Hi raps ! Parts came in yesterday they started work on it today but called today to say they found another damaged part that needs to be ordered I didn't get that much info back apart from it was somewhere in the engine and it's a small sieve type filter? That is now on back order from Germany could be another 10 days yet but hopefully will be in early next week, it's a pain as I have mods lined up and is putting a hold on them at the moment but rather they took there time and get it right, I've Spent more time with the girl in the service dept at Audi than I did with the ex wife !!

Is she fit though

Good evening chaps ! Chains are all done car has been road tested and have found knocking on the front drivers side that I had a moan about to be the front drivers side track rod end, car has been MOT at the same time pick it up on Friday woo hoo! can't wait to get it back after two weeks, I realised just how much I love my RS3, swapping black grille for the Ali grille on sat with jay

Has any one had the Ali pack vinyl wrapped on there car does it match the colour of the grille and wing mirrors well enough ?

That's unusual. Grills are typically changed from Ali to black.

I felt sure I would change mine pre purchase , but the Ali has grown on me.

Hi Paul Yeah well I like both to be honest but I think the Ali looks better on the Daytona grey I'm having the Ali pack vinyl wrapped as well should look good once it's all done together just wasn't sure if the colour match is close enough

Picked up car from Audi today after having both chains replaced and everything chain related and car is running much better however ! I'm still hearing a tappet sound on acceleration started after 1 hour of leaving Audi after they test drove the car and said it was mint I'm at a loss of what this can be as have now had flywheel and chains replaced what else is there ???

How strange have you called Audi assist out to have a listen just in case it is anything serious again?

No I haven't had chance as picked up kids and then heard what sounded like a flat tyre on the rear and found a screw sticking out so have had to get that sorted out! I'm not sure if they will want to help me any further with it as they have done all that and I'm going to go back and say that did nothing problem still there

Ah right did it not come with an Audi warranty ?

Explain your situation to trading standards if you haven't had it long and they will advise were you stand.

It's a real love hate thing with these...

Yes I know the car is fine apart from that sound maybe I'm being to fussy and should live with it problem I've got is that I went and drove an RS3 and didn't put deposit on it and car was sold and it was perfect so then looked around and this one ticked all the boxes on the spec but I messed up I shouldn't of bought it as wasn't exactly the one I wanted but everyone says what a lovely car it is and it is are get to the bottom of it soon hopefully I can't sell it yet even if I wanted too

If the cars been in Audi for this complaint and you can still hear it then take it back.
I do believe there's a few jump on the band wagon with timing chain issues. Don't get me wrong there will be the odd one but obviously not in this case.
Take it back as it'll more than likely be something simple that's been overlooked.
It'll only spoil the car for you until you get it fixed, let's face it when they're good they're really good.

Well yeah maybe I thought the worst but Audi master tech came out and heard the sound from the car while driving along said it wasn't that bad which we disagreed on but said it can only be the timing chain? how you can possible be content with a £30000 RS3 which has only run for 27000 miles to make a tapping sound coming from the engine and just think oh well !! Never mind, I don't know ! Anyway !
Was thinking and doing some research if the car is making an up and down tapping sound that goes with the revs then surely this must point towards the valves or valve train as there nothing else ? that could produce that sound so I'm going in there next week for a chat !! See what happens

Hi David, did this issue ever get fully resolved?, did the new timing chain and tensioner improve the noise?

Hi no I have no success with Audi over this as of yet the new chains have improved it but has not solved the problem completely I have a nasty rattle and vibration on ignition and still have the up and down tapping sound every now and then from 2500 revs when the turbo kicks in, car still flys !! But I'm not giving up car is going back in on Monday I have successfully recorded the ignition noise so I hope they will understand how pissed off I get when I try to explain this to an Audi tech and all I get is that they have replaced the chains and they wouldn't be surprised if if did that on a brand new car!! Which I find amazing ! If I bought a brand new RS3 for what just under £50000 and it rattled on start up and under acceleration I wouldn't be happy at all so there having it on Monday !!!

When i start the car with the initial rev up it causes a vibration in the engine somewhere have no idea what it is but lasts maybe 2 seconds and then it's fine also still have the ticking noise when accelerate not sure if both things are connected, I have taken a video of the sound I will see if I can upload it
