Hi ok let's update this thread.. Drove to MRC tuning today they were very good I must say impressed ! Told the guys there of my issue with tapping sound on acceleration and they just got on with it, after 2 dyno runs and plugged in the VCDS ! this is 3 weeks after full service at Audi 3 fault codes and gave me a list of possible repairs I will just post the paperwork as to long to type up which may come of some help for other members
On here with similar issues also had a cheeky quote for a bit work !!

That's poor that Audi never caught any of that mate.

Hope you get it sorted.

My car had a charcoal canister and valve replaced about 25k although I can't remember it making any noise though!
I only had the fault code.

The 1st and 3rd faults are an easy fix. They control the engine cooling fans. The 2nd fault I really wouldn`t bother about.Mines had this from nearly new. It`s to do with petrol vapour from the tank not getting into the atmosphere. It won`t affect performance in any way shape or form.Unfortunately none of those 3 faults will account for the noise your getting.

Really I was hoping that might be what the problem was the guy at MRC said the noise could be a solenoid I can't remember everything they said I'm not happy with Audi though they should of sorted all that when they had it also MRC said the only other thing it could be is a bit broken off the pre cat and is rattling around under boost

If anyone here is going to the Wales meet I would be very interested to hear the problem. I do notice a rattling chain myself but not to the extent that it bothers me. Kinda think they all do that. All those fault codes not getting picked up by Audi is poor. I mean the computer runs the diagnostics so don't see how it could have been missed.

Hi just a quick update! Car went back in to Audi again on Monday with MRC tuning information Audi have confirmed the parts are defective and are fixing them under warranty

Cooling fans is what they believe to be the problem with the air con

Also there replacing the N80 one way valve

Audi technical have reviewed my findings and have notified the dealership that the noise or tapping coming from engine under boost to be the turbo manifold gasket leaking
Car is going in on July the 4th to have all these parts replaced

Warranty will not cover the turbo gasket and had a phone call today to say that as I'm a good customer Poole Audi will pay for the turbo repair also they said they will check the turbo and make sure there is no damage

So we will see , fingers crossed !

Why don't you just sell the car? Seems you have more trouble than it's worth tbh!

So do I has been a joke ! But total embassment for them as sat in service managers office with MRC tuning paperwork
Showing them what needs to be done and they know it ? So not much argument from them Sweet !

Rick If I could sell the car I would but tbh it's a great car and I love it ! apart from the above and after all that I've have done would be nice to have it sorted so that I get a couple of years of enjoyment out of it and when she goes and the 8v appears the next person that comes accross it doesn't have any problems like that and the car will have all the right mods done properly plus complete with bespoke interior wheels refurbed I've transformed it

got my RS3 back from Boston Audi yesterday after the warranty work on timing chain rattle. There was just 2 days left on the warranty by the way. I'm happy to report the rattle that would come on when idling and fully warmed up is now.....gone :-). Really happy with the service from Boston Audi, their Service and Warranty Managers were great throughout, as were the rest of their teams. A part arrived damaged and so caused a slight delay in the repair, a full tank of petrol accompanied their apology! A courtesy car was delivered for me when the RS3 was picked up at my home. Really good experience and can't recommend them highly enough. They also discovered a broken rear spring and replaced that. The engine repair was: timing chains, tensioners, guides, cam phasing sprockets. False economy to do any less once you have the engine apart and transmission etc off for access.
