Don't know what mine was it was an intermittent noise on a hot start......

I did have a rotational noise on tickover but Audi concluded it was normal for the 2.5 Tfsi engine.

Mine was first highlighted at the cars 1st MOT...... When the car was sat over the pit in the floor it seemed to amplify the noise.

Audi said the startup noise was the exhaust valves in the back box rattling....... So they renewed the exhaust from the 2nd cats to the back box as you can't renew the flaps on their own.

im just going to drive the f**ker untill it dies and hopefully the warranty will cover it. Sick of worrying about its quirks.

Best way I feel......... Just drive it and keep it serviced / maintained to the schedule.
Like you say the warranty does the rest should anything break........

It's a sad state of affairs when they can't even pinpoint where a problem lies.........

How long have you had the car ?

You should be enjoying your new purchase....... not worrying about if they can fix it........NOT how RS3 ownership should be in my opinion

Audi dealers, once again spoiling the RS ownership experience..... :(

I have owned it 54 days and 18 of them have been in Audi !

They say my gearbox it fine but on down shifts into 2nd it crashes into gear, when up shifting from 3rd to 4th is crashes into gear. And just random un smooth changes...

I have a really bad rattle behind the dash! That I didn't have before Audi did the work.

I also have an intermittent wheel spin problem. But when I turn the car off and back on again it seems to work fine again for a while.

And it's already had a broken window fix with new motors ect

A new auxiliary belt and tensioner because it was squeaking.

A new secondary fuel pump

A new primary fuel pump

Paint protection issues and I have found a patch of rust under the rear reg!! Will this be covered under warranty ??

The list goes on ......

Wow that is unfortunate, it sounds like whoever had the car befroe you did not look after it well. Wheel spin problem may be earl signs of a haldex pump failure but then on greasy cold roads it could be a number of things. Does it happen when you have ESP off as well? Never seen anyone report problems with window motors or belt/ tensioner issues. Fuel pumps may be because low grade fuel used / sat around a lot.

I hope you get it all fixed promptly under warranty.

the traction thing will be a shitty problem to fix i think as its on the odd occasion it was doing it. Audi would like to see the issue before that can do anything about it.

not tried it with the esp off i just get alot of esp flicker when it does start to happen , im more worried about the crashy gear changes that the tech says is normal . Put it this way if had bought this new and it had the crashy gear changes for a 40k+ car i wouldn't be happy. in fact im not happy really.

plus i have just found that behind the rear reg plate i have a patch of rust !!!!! shouldnt this of been spotted at the 145 point inspection.

This rattle issue is not normal for any engine let alone an £40,000 Audi RS3 they are slightly noises as a performance car but there should be no rattles coming from the engine at all it should sound sweet, mine is going in tomorrow morning to Audi with the rattle noise almost continuous now stops for about 5 to 10 seconds then starts again already told them I'm not having back until found and fixed as Audi tech were not happy with it when they had it in before so hopefully fingers crossed it will be sorted out, the only other problem I've been getting lately is squeaky suspension over speed bumps it's only just started to do that, not sure what that can be ? I think it's the luck of the draw with these cars , but I think if I had bought mine direct from Audi with these issues mentioned above they would be having the car back that's nots good enough

I had a creak/squeak turned out in the end to be the gearbox mounting.
After Audi had replaced most of the suspension too

Hi just taken call from Audi they have found the problem to be the flywheel !! So 8 hours work, gear box out and clutch apart so with a bit Irish luck the squeaking might be a gearbox mount and there sort that out as well happy days !!

So the gearbox mount could be a common cause of noise when driving along then.
Glad it's getting sorted.

Well I will wait and see as I know other members have had same issue and been in and out of Audi with it, hope that is what it is, I'm still finding it hard to believe it's the flywheel and not the chain but I just have to go with what they are suggesting it is not a cheap job to replace the flywheel

My rattle has turned out to be a loose induction pipe knocking against the night pressure fuel pump , so he thinks lol

Yeah the noise could be down to gear box mount or just the gearbox with dmf that's gives out vibration if not quite right I will let you know what it's like when I get it back next week

Ok engine ticking noise still there between 2 and 3000 rpm
Flywheel has been changed under warranty and has made a massive difference so just need to get to the bottom of this ticking nose and car will be perfect ! Not sure what it can be after Audi said they checked timing chain and tensioners and all ok ??

Extended warranty taken out with Audi today

I have looked at a milltek haven't heard one yet so yes maybe next week some time if your free thanks

Just be careful - fitting an aftermarket exhaust could cause them to reject a warranty claim, even if it isn't clearly a factor. They have gotten a lot more picky about this kind of thing recently, based on what people on this and other forums have been saying.

Thanks for the advice I'm going to keep it standard as happy with it as it is I might mod the interior and just refurb the wheels once the tyres are worn out
