Today the WMI was wired in and the 2 jets fitted at the same time as installing the adapter plate and throttle body elbow. One jet is in the adapter plate and the other in the additional air intake hard pipe supplied with the CTS kit that joins the elbow.
Also a better shot of the APR coil packs.

I’m trying to give as much information as I get and can explain in case anyone else is doing any of the same mods I’ve been doing.

Ok so today the car was driven to check the WMI is operating correctly at 0.7 bar. The checks included recording temperate and amps being drawn. This makes sure the WMI pump is working to the manufacturers specification and it’s not just a reading on the gauge. They also needed to make sure the car wasn’t bogging down due to incorrect jet sizes. The jet sizes were specified by Snows based on the engine cc, power increase and current temp data. The jet sizes can be altered but this is a good starting point before the mapping is done.

Tomorrow the Sharp Motorsport 980cc injectors are being installed along with the IROZ lpfp. Similar tests will be conducted to make sure all components are working correctly, instead of installing everything in one go and having to trace a potential fault at the mapping stage.

Well they say you learn something everyday and I have just found out that although the FL cars have 2 sets of injectors at a certain point only one set is injecting. I always assumed the indirect and direct would always be on and vary equally.

Lol yup.
Although they do work in tandem with each other.

It must be a pain in the butt when tuning at the point one set stops injecting and the other set need to instantly make up the difference. Just as well I’m not the one doing the tuning starting tomorrow. 😁

Stu.

It won't work like that as the 2 injector tables will interpole between each other as required.

I have been driving around in a Toyota Yaris hybrid for 10 days now and I can say apart from 74mpg there is nothing I like about it. The air con resets to off every time you stop, it’s has really cheap moulded plastic interior, it is very bouncy and I have to reset lane assist each time I drive. Lane assist has got to be the most annoying addition to car ever. I drive on small country lanes to collect my daughter from school and have to avoid animals, cyclist and potholes. This is not to mention some roads have cycle lane type single white line zones making a thin 2 way road impossible for cars to pass without going over the lines. If you don’t indicate the alarm sounds and it tugs the steering wheel. Great for long distance reps I guess but not my cup of tea.

I didn't get to pop in and see what was going on with my car today due to being too busy at work. Some work was being done on the fuelling and I was told they were just about to run it on the Dyno for 50 miles to allow the car to get used to the changes, ready for the first power run on Monday.

Early next week I should have some figures and pictures of the last things that are getting fitted including the TTRS steering wheel butt0ons, body kit parts and subframe.

I don't think I could cope going through a major upgrade again due to hating not having it done instantly. I could never cope with waiting for Xmas either.

Tuning has been underway since yesterday and everything going well so far. The low boost map will is complete and running 520hp.

High boost map first run was 560hp and todays first run did 620hp. After it has cooled off and some cam timing adjustments are done they will up the boost and go again. When that is completed the plenum chamber will be fitted and the final tuning completed.

We probably won't go over 2.3 bar even though TTE state 2.5 bar. Todays mapping will not include dependency on WMI and it will be used for cooling only. I know you can get probably 35hp more with the mapping, but we intend to have a third map which will be WMI dependent and tuned to run octane booster. That way I can have a map running around 60hp more just for 1/4 mile track days and keep it as reliable as possible for daily & fast road driving.

I will post back later today or tomorrow as I get more results.

Next update we are stopping at 2.2 bar because we don't need to run anymore boost to get what I wanted. I was hoping to finish up with a safe level tune anything between 650hp and 700hp.

Well the latest run was 672hp which I am very pleased with and they still have to adjust the timing, do a few more adjustments smoothing out the torque curve using boost and then fit the plenum chamber. It's pretty hot today so the plan is for me to collect it tomorrow and drive it for a few weeks, return it for further checks/adjustments and do a final run.

In September it will be booked it at Peron for the stage 4 DSG map and then I will pop over to MRC for a dyno run as I have some credit left with them still. It will be interesting to see the difference because Dyno Jet dynos are typically about 5% higher than Mustang dynos like Regal have. I know it's just a pub figure but it would be a good comparison against the TTE builds posted on the Audi Sport forum.

Regardless of dynos I am happy that everything has gone well with the project so far. The engine build was faultless and ran super smooth on the low boost map, with no issues at any of the oil changes and check points. If the mapping carries on the way it is going I will be over the moon.

I can't wait to collect it tomorrow and actually to get to my first car show in 2 years. :D

To be honest I would have been happy with anything over 650hp. I cant wait to drive it with the Wavetrack in and all the Verkline kit fitted. Looks like Saturday I will have to do some cleaning before the show.

Today went well but the mapping isn’t finished yet and I will have to take it back in a weeks time for some more file work. It’s fine to drive for now but we ran out of time to do the body kit parts and subframe.
Tomorrow I will attempt to fit the rear upper brace myself and hopefully paint the rear disc centres.

The Racingline rear upper body brace is a very well made bit of kit but sadly I couldn’t quite finish the fit due to the bottle being in the way. I reckon I could have moved the bottle by 3 inches to solve the issue but in involves cutting the cable ties and pulling the wiring through, so I’ll leave this to Regal when it next goes back.

The next job I did today was paint the rear brake discs. I was contemplating removing the discs until I spoke to Dell and realised it wasn’t worth the hassle.
A simple wire brush, blast off with the air line and thinners on a rag got it ready for a couple of coats of spray Hammerite smooth black.

In my bid to reduce engine bay temps I have just ordered a Funk Motorsports turbo blanket designed for the TTE turbos. I am hoping someone knows a bit more than I do regarding the phenolic intake manifold spacers and replies to my other post.

I realise RS3s make a ton of heat compared to a lot of other cars so I am interested in anything that can reduce temps. So far I have the ceramic coated downpipe and WMI. Any ideas?

Stu.

If you are going to use a phenolic spacer you may find your need to modify the direct injection fuel rail as it bolts to the manifold which your moving away from the cylinder head.

As you using WMI I don't see the need for a heat break spacer on the manifold especially if you may need to modify the fuel rail in doing so.

Personally I'll vent the bonnet rather than wrapping the turbo in a blanket tbh.

Dell.
