Half correct, as stock the RS has an EGT model which is an estimated reading. I am referring to an actual reading with one sensor on each manifold port plus one in the collector, so you can tune each cylinder individually. Now this can be done using the stock ecu using DS1 and an EGT to CAN box but is not as simple as doing it on the Syvecs which already has all the tables in place ready for it to be tuned.

As we have a cast manifold that's how it is but on a tubular one that would be the case if need be.

So your saying the stock set up is only a estimate reading of the turbo egt ?

Even on a hybrid with a cast manifold, you can tap it for an egt probe which quite a few people stateside have done to get a true reading. Yes the stock setup is a calculated estimate not an actual true EGT reading like you get with an aftermarket probe.

Just a bit of info I've found out in regards the egt it isn't an estimate reading It's a reading that's correct within 10c, it reads on average 800ms.

Problem is the likes of obd2 is only showing you the basic the same on vcds.

The egt has several types, and in the Audi world they use 3-4 different styles but all have the same protocol, trigger at 940c for safety.
Some read 900-1140c newer read -40 1150c

Hi Ben

Where syvecs is ahead is that it allows you to add additional sensors like EGT, coolant pressure and such a lot easier than the oem ecu but you're correct it is easier to tune than the oem ecu for someone less experienced on this platform. The logger for the DS1 is just as good if not better than the Syvecs.

I agree there are lots of inputs on the Syvecs for controllability like fuel temp and even connectivity to the WMI. With extra inputs comes extra control because greater data means issue prediction is easier.

The exhaust has had the rear silencers modified so it isn’t as loud. It is still loud but not stupid loud like before.
2500 miles in and the engine is spot on. Next month I’m back to do a few tuning tweets and add the race fuel map. I’ll do it just to see what it’s like but I’m more than happy with the performance as it is.
I haven’t had a lot of time to drive lately due to work being very busy and a couple of new ventures. Being on the Solent I’m also into boats and looking at a new edItion shortly. I have to sell my current one as I already have that, the RS3 and a Land Rover. The wife isn’t moaning too much because at least I’m no longer into motorbikes. :-)

How did it go with the tweaks and any figures on the race fuel map?

Sadly due to a few family issues it didn’t happen snd I had to cancel the session. Running spot on and looking to get it booked in soon. I dropped it off last week at Brook Racing Exhausts to have the rear silencers altered on the inconel exhaust as still a bit too loud.
Next month I have the Mot and full service so I book in for after that so I know it has fresh oil and everything has been checked over.
I’ve only done 500 miles since November due to work and having spent time selling my boat and buying a new one.

Ha, life gets in the way sometimes! Did you get wavetracs front and rear? Be curious to hear what you think of them as it is one thing I have thought about.

I got the front Wavetrack and I can only assume it is really good. I say that because it was done at the same time as the K3s, chassis, various strengthening parts and mounts. This all made a huge difference to handling but more noticeably when putting power down. On full boost the power goes down really well and there isn’t a hint of traction loss or tracking issues. A mate works as a Ferrari tech near me and he said it puts power down better than any of the cars he test drives. That is a testament to just how good RS3s are and the gains from modding.

I will be going back to RaceCal for a fine tuning day and for a race fuel map/power run in the next couple of months. Sadly my P3 gauge won’t work with Syvecs so I’ll have to sell that.

Yes life gets in the way and I’m always busy. Just doing some work on my Landrover ready for the Summer and just bought a new boat that is getting ceramic coated. I did manage to go to a local fast car and coffee meet 2 weeks ago which was good, apart from the rain.

After 18 months since my built engine has been run in everything has been running fine and I am glad I went for a Syvecs ecu tuned by Racecal.

My mpg has been an average of 30 over the 3000 miles which seems pretty good but shows I don't really drive it that hard. Most weeks the only drive I do is down the motorway 30 miles return from my boat sat at 75mph due to the cameras. In fact after 5 1/2 years of ownership and 24k miles I am still on the same brake pads and discs.

It will be 6 years old in March so I need to decide if I do more to it or sell it and buy something else. Most of the time I have it set on 500hp and I had the next map set to 600hp to run at low boost. It is plenty fast enough due to the improvement in getting the power down with  the chassis mods, wavetrack and suspension upgrades. There is no need to run it closer to 700hp or use a E85 map. I am sure if I eventually sell it the next owner would get the benefit of the flex fuel feature if they wanted to track it. I didn't even run a map for the meth injection to stay safe and it is purely there as a safety precaution to come on if there was a high heat issue and isn't set to change the timing.

Sadly I will be removing myP3 gauge next week because it is not compatible with the Syvecs ecu. That will be up for sale if anyone wants it for half price. Just as well I kept the old vent. :)

I will be getting a service in January and I think I will only have done 1500 miles since the last one but at least it keeps the Audi servicing up to date.

Maybe next year we can arrange to go to Simply Audi again since we didn't do it this year.

Glad to hear you still have it! I fear this is how it goes for many owners after doing so much it falls to the wayside but I think for some the best part of the fun and ownership is building it up and changing things like you have.
