Well the Yellowstuff didn't even last 100 miles before the squealing started....
Pulled the pads yesterday this is what I found.
So I'm done with any type of 'stuff' pads, seem to spend more time taking wheels off than actually driving the car.
New oem pads on front and rear now
I'm done with it.......

Are you sure your discs aren't sh@gged which is knackering the pads? I fitted Redstuff on the front at the same time as new Audi disks and they have been perfect since. I know you said you tried the Yellows as the Reds weren't working for you but I don't remember seeing what problems you were having. Squealing still I assume. If you had original Audi pads on the disc first I would recommend getting them skimmed first, (if they are fairly new and not heavily scored), to ensure there are no high spots or lamination caused by the sh1te Audi pads. If you have had problems with 2 sets of EBC pads then the discs would be my guess.

Well I can understand your reasons now, too much time wasted swapping pads and not getting a final solution. To date the Redstuff on my car haven't shown anything like what you had but I will keep a check on the disks just in case. Thanks for heads up.

Wow, there are some chunks of pad material missing there. I've never seen a set of EBC pads like that. The yellowstuffs I had on the previous RS4 were faultless so sorry to see that has happened, I'll keep a check on mine when they are fitted next week.

Yeah I am sure they will want to find out why the Yellows broke up like that at the least.

I'm not sure why they say that, but looking at where the pad has broken away I can't understand why they say it?
Surely if that pad got any worse there wouldn't be any material left as its already lost a chunk.
I've been in the motor trade for over 20 years and if I stripped your brakes I'd of said those pads were for the bin!
On first look they look like a set of pads that have been overheated and cracked and broke up, no matter how much bedding in is done on those pads your never going to get the material back that's missing.
Just my opinion and not trying to upset or contradict what you've been told, I'm only looking at a picture you have them infront of you.

He also said that the yellowstuff are different in that they should look horrendous (i.e full of craters and not smooth) he said the worse they look the better they are working ........
Ahem.. to quote del-boy:
Can you smell that? What is that? Sheep is it? It's cows? No, no, I know what it is. It's bullshit!

How about those brakes for MKI RS3 owners?
veneeringman good work on your persistence trying to find an alternative pad top marks. I'm loosing patience but keep telling myself at least I've been getting free brakes out of Audi.

JM I was going to say exactly the same thing earlier today but thought it must have been done before.
One can only wonder about how much goodwill Audi have wasted never mind the vast cost of the brake replacement exercise. Surely it would have been more sensible to cut and run with a better idea early on. Then again what would we have left to talk about?
My car is currently in for a check (back tomorrow) but "no fault found" so as with you I'll just keep going back as it's under warranty.
(FYI they are also checking out the "steam" issuing from the front grille as mentioned elsewhere, again - nothing wrong!)
I have to say the dog of an A5 quattro coupe diesel they gave me has far, far better brakes and for a much heavier car it gives good feel at least on initial application. It's very over-servoed though. And that's plain old ventilated discs. Is it possible Audi invented a problem by being too damn clever?

AP do have a drilled option that can be supplied by DaveB Vagbremtechnic or APS pictured here;
d1.jpg 25.56K
9 downloads
Tarox have a number of disc finishes for the RS3 including a bespoke 'D95' drilled disc which would match the originals pictured here;
download.jpg 4.08K
10 downloads
As these are from there 'bespoke' range I don't see why they couldn't make 310 mm or even 335 mm 2 piece rears to match I have sent them an inquiry.

Can we all complain to Audi in mass, or all sign a letter written by someone more literate than I ?
Just an Idea
