Yip, 8J0xxxx are TTRS part numbers. 8P0xxxxx are RS3 part numbers.

The discs are indeed different. As Paul says, the bell bit is "shallower"............I know as I acquired a set of 8J0 discs and compared them.......

You want the 8P0 part number.............not the 8J0 part............not unless you WANT the TTRS part (that's what they are advertising in E-Bay just now, the TTRS discs)??

Maybe so,

All I'm saying is what I was told when an Audi dealer saw redstuff pads in mine.

The only way to avoid it would be to refit the original brembo pads which I still have in the garage(with 70 odd miles use)

Remember not all dealers say / do the same thing, just look at the amount of RS 3 owners that are refused the 47i6 update, even when they quote the ref number.

Audi can be a law unto themselves sometimes.

I don't disagree with you and I do have a good relationship with Audii Stansted so maybe they are less difficult than others. I have actually found Audi UK worse than any dealer. On my third set of warped discs Audi UK refused to replace under warranty saying that I must have been doing track days. After a pretty big fight we agreed 50:50 based on the fact that the discs were 50% warn and they were re-imbursing me for the 50% i couldnt utilise!!!!

 And now I have had to read this thread from begining to end, tried to understand a lot of stuff that as a car enthusiast I really should   because my brakes have started squealing after just over a month of ownership and suffer vibration at various times - nothing consistent though

My car is July 2012 , done 25k miles now and I have the "B" suffix on the discs

Awaiting phone call from Poole Audi to discuss ...

Let us know how you get on Colin... I only bought mine at the end of December... So far so good, but I am always looking out for any issues. Is your break squeel quite loud?

Brake squeal just isn't hard to resolve.  Brembo and brake squeal are synonymous.

The RS3 and/or TTRS have a Brembo front brake caliper and Brembo brake pads.

Brembo brake pads in Brembo brake calipers 'SQUEAL' at low speed.

Brembo offer anti-squeal shims to sort it: Brembo 98.5032.40 (Mitsubishi MR475618) Camskill do 'em.  Audi don't.  TSK!!!

Sooooo much written on this subject there's more and more experts by the day...

Do the maths, check it out.

Talk to Camskill.

Buy some shims.

Get yer hands dirty.

It ain't hard....

Been on this self same subject for 3-years now...

My RS3's brakes are sooooooo quiet and GRIP!

What's yer problem....

RESPECT!!!!!!!  But C'mon....

I have a set of those shims waiting to be fitted along with the correct RedStuff pads for the front from the US (which actually come with there own shims) and the RedStuff for the rear and matching drilled discs you kindly supplied.

But whilst Audi are still regularly replacing the front setup its a tougher choice.

Car in again on Monday (16th) - after only 4 months and 4k miles on brand new upgrade brakes.

Feels like they're grinding away and I'm not happy. I have no confidence in them at all. How come my A3 3.2 brakes - for example - were so amazingly good yet these are so awful?. Under warranty for another year so not bothered apart from the inconvenience of it all, but when the time comes I'll be doing what others have done and get the job done properly without using Audi parts.

(I'll need better brakes for the long list of upgrades!)

Well Poole Audi did not return my call but since I was in the are ai popped in. Have to say it was a realtively good customer experience especially when you bear in mind I am not a cutomer of theirs. The Service Tech talked through the issues and contacted the supplying dealer to find out whether any brakes/disc work done (No - so the B suffix parts must have been on the car from new ? ). Was reminded that discs and pads are not warranty items unless Audi UK say otherwise. Its a shame that cant take to the dealer that I bought it from as feel I would get more done, IF it needs to be , but I will wait until after Poole initial investigation on Wednesday before ranting and raving. In the meantime a call to the supplying dealer will be made

Its not the brake squeal that really bothers me - its the judder through the wheel at various speeds / brake pedal pressure.

Colin I wouldn't of thought the B suffix discs would of been on your car from new ,I had a 2013 registered car and that didn't have the B suffix discs.

I've had this on a couple of sets it's pad decomposition on the discs from getting too hot there's not enough cooling to the brakes not pleasant doesn't feel as though there going to work.

Don't know about everyone else but after my 2nd set of discs/pads (warped/juddering) I "adjusted" my driving/braking..............

So whenever I'm stopped for longer than a few secs anywhere it's into neutral (N), hand brake on and feet OFF the foot brake - pads do not have contact with discs for any longer than they need to.

Extreme? Maybe but no more warped discs to date although the dreaded squeal is back.............

Will be moving to yellow stuff as soon as Audi stop giving me new discs/pads.............

I warped a set of discs and pads when I bumped into the Evo magazine crew on the autobahn playing with a Manhart M5 Godzilla GTR RS6 and a Ferrari so I think it's too much heat that causes the pad decomposition rather than always being on the brake in traffic when stationary but a good technique if you remember and have the patience.

Hi all. How do you all fancy a new brake problem to worry about? :/

All the upgrades done and four sets of discs and pads along the way. Nine months ago I went in to get pads changed and they couldn't get s new set to fit. The floating disc on one side had moved. Under Audi uks instruction they stripped, photographed and replaced everything.

Nine months on it's time for a new set of pads. Guess what. Yup the pads won't fit as the discs have moved again.

Had my car for a week now. Referred to Germany technical as Audi uk don't know what is causing it. Germany came back on Friday suggesting that a faulty wheel bearing could be leading to the floating disc compensating. New bearings ordered for tue and new set of brakes.

Audi should have just given everyone a sum of money to go and buy some aftermarket brakes....they'd have saved a fortune
If the upgrades are failing too what system has gone on the new model ??

Well fitted new discs and pads all round yesterday, genuine front discs, mtech drilled rears and oe pagid pads. Fitted with a smear of ceratec and guess what? Totally silent and no grinding. Old discs and pads came out very easily apart from having to remove rear carrier as you can't get the disc out. Hopefully all sorted now, time to enjoy it

It seems like everyone has break problems... Does anyone not or never had any breaking issues or am I the only one?
