can someone answer a few questions I have about this brake issue, is the brake squeal on all braking or is it under heavy or light braking, or does it just hapen if the car has a heavy or light load? the only reason i ask is that i've had my car since August and the car has done 20,000 miles now and up till the other weekend my brakes had never squealled, this was on very light braking with 4 people in the car, looking at my brakes i would say that they are the originals from when the car was new (2012 car). so any info would be helpful if i need to go to Audi. cheers Lee.

In the end i decided enough was enough, haven't got the time to keep taking it to the dealership for them to swap over like for like with still no cure i started looking at other alternative pad options, at the end of the day that's what it boils down to the pads......
Thought the redstuff was the one but then i had other issues with them so after speaking with EBC I'm now running Yellowstuff pads.
How are you finding the Yellowstuff pads, or is it still to early to tell?

Too early
Only fitted them last night, however they seemed good on the couple of miles I drove after fitting.
Decided to reinstate the wear sensor as well.

Maybe you could give us all an update in a week or so, once you have given them a good 'seeing to'

How did you reinstate the wear sensor on the Yellowstuffs veneeringman or do they come with wear sensors? The RS4 fitting did so wondered of the RS3 version would do as well?

"All customers will be helped - free", Quattro Manager Reil insured...
Here's the original January 2013 published announcement from Audi that includes Mr. Stephan Reil Head of Development at quattro GmbH and remains hands on with the new RS3: write to him direct in a "what you said then" vein; and here's a copy to remind you and ALL others at Audi GmbH and Audi UK...

"UPDATE Code 47i6 - UPDATE Code 47i6 - UPDATE Code 47i6"
I received this from Audi in May 2013 - unfortunately I copied it into a Word document without the senders details, tsk!

Same for Florian Heurberger. I couldn't find details for him to confirm similar first name. surname@ address or initial.surname@ for Reil.
My brakes are ok for now and original, also covered by 5 yr warranty, but I do want confirmation, that if I need them, they will be forthcoming, either in or out of warranty, or they can change them now.
What happens when I need new discs. Will I get hit with a bill to upgrade onto B discs, caliper and pads?
Dealers and Audi UK are dismissive unless you can demonstrate the fault, and as mentioned above, seem to be suggesting 47i6 never existed. That's different to what Reil says above.

Paul imo the longer you own the car and more miles you put on a car the less chance you've got of getting the discs replaced foc because it can come under the catogory of wear and tear,if you don't want to get hit with a bill I'd act sooner rather than later .When I purchased my RS3 (4k miles)I asked the dealer to make sure it had the revised brake parts and on collection he told me it had been through the workshop and assured me they were the latest parts ,surprise surprise when I get it home I find they're not the updated discs and am experiencing squeal so I phone Audi UK and open a case and express my disgust ,the car gets booked into my local dealer for the following week and is fitted with the new updated parts (same group as supplying dealer). The car had been sat with the supplying dealer for a week from the time I purchased it until I collected it .Try finding Stephan Reil's email. I have and drew a blank, plenty of interviews, but no contact info anywhere.

Post #95: brake disc part number is 8P0 615 301 B
So take a look at the part number of your brake disc, I mean; does it end in a 'B'?????
I'm getting too old for this now; I'm a war baby; checking just isn't hard...
And it's not "breaks"; it's "brakes"...

Thanks ... This is what I thought and looked out for before I bought my car.. what threw me off was 45bvtc's post with that same part number. It kinda seemed like that was the faulty number to be replaced. I only asked as I have the number with the 'b' at the end. With all these break problems I am very reluctant to fit the same pads and discs and pay out for them. Audi have recommend I change my discs and pads as I have 30.5mm disc remaining. Quoted 900 odd quid so not something I'm willing to do right now as still work fine and within safe tolerance levels. You are looking for this tell tale.

I am starting to wonder if I actually want the new parts. It's not the cure, and I could be installing the problem.
Paul how many miles has your car done and how long left on the warranty?,The old saying if it isn't broken don't try to fix it comes to mind,

I 100% agree with that. I thought my pre-47i6 brakes had a much better pedal feel and the original pads not breaking up as much as those 47i6 items; I well remember seeing two 47i6 updated RS3's with heavily black-dusted front wheels from a 75-mile steady run; others happy with the 47i6 update mind. For me the only useful items were a new pair of front brake discs...

Hi Ben, 6,700 miles on a May 2012 registered car.
So just over 2 years left of the optional 5 year warranty left.
As much as I'd like to try the redstuffs, it would be silly of me to while in warranty, and prior to any brake update it might need in future.
