It just sickens me that with buying such expensive toys they can slap us with price tags and expect us to pay them just because we're RS customers. I will not back down!!!

Had mine replaced last week by Stratford upon Avon Audi without any fuss at all. The procedure that the dealer has to go through has now changed, Audi have now released a TPI on the subject that makes it a lot quicker for the dealer.

The old way involved the dealer taking photos of the discs and senting them to germany for approval before they cold order the "brake kit", that meant it could take a couple of days for the job to be completed, now the kit can be ordered before the vehicle lands with the dealer and the whole job can be done in the same day.

It may pay you to Cantact your dealer and ask them to read their latest TPI releases !!

That's exactly what happened with me last November, the kit was already with Glasgow Audi before they even seen the car, it went in that day and was ready for 4pm.

That's how it should be done.
No hassle for the customer and gives the customer some faith in the after sales.

Spot on Vito.......

Exactly why I stopped going back to Audi with mine

It was getting me nowhere and every time I had to take the car in it was costing me in wasted/lost business time.
Far easier to source my own solution.

I now how Brembo sport pads front & rear, all is quiet with good bite no issues......

Sent from my iPhone using Brembo

Hi mate,

How much was the front set of discs and pads from Brembo? or did you just get the pads?

Hi there speak to Ed at APS for the pads
The discs you can get from Crewe Audi for £400 speak to josh.

Sent from my iPhone using Brembo

Jon Sutcliffe at Bolton Audi said the best they can do is £360 for new front pads and discs as opposed to the original £1250 they quoted me....tut tut ...

Starting to think this is a more reasonable price...but still cant believe I'm expected to foot the bill for this....

Again I'm not Advocating anything, just reporting back with how I am finding them on MY RS 3............ :)

Just to keep you all posted.....Car is booked in Bolton Audi for the 26th for new front discs and pads.....£360 + VAT...hopefully no squeal on...OEM pads.....can complain original bill was £1250....screwing b**tar*s

To save starting a new thread
I've cleaned my rear brakes out today before I paint my hubs with POR
My car has Ferodo rear pads fitted, are these standard fit?

Although currently I am having no particular problems with my brakes, I need to know whether both sides of front of the car have brake sensors. Sounds daft I know but I've just had all the wheels off, and there seems to be one sensor short.

When Audi replaced my discs last year I just assumed there would be one for each side. On the front at least,

Reason for the work was my tyre guy put new tyres on then put the wheels on the wrong ends - that's an interesting point as he tells me that to put bigger tyres on the front vs the rear requires an MOT exception and he can't find one. I advised him of the code H1Y which dictates the tyres and which the car must have been homologated with, and he's off to check the matter.

There's only one brake sensor on the car and that's on the left front.
As for the MOT thing with the tyres, unless it's changed since I stopped testing but it was as long as the same size was on the same axle.
No mention of what's to be on the front or rear as long as they don't stick out.

+1 for brake sensor on N/S front only. That MOT one is old wording I believe ask your tester to check the the type approved tyres suitable for the vehicle which can be found stamped on the inside of the drivers door. Any type approved tyre on correct sized (width) alloy should have no MOT problems.

Current MOT spec's: Both tyres on the same axle must be the same size but each axle can have different sizes.

This has been the way for quite a few years. (think of Porsche and BMW vehicles where the rear tyres are wider than the front)

Well this is the biggest load of bullsh1t I have ever heard!!!

Despite replacing my brakes 5 times Audi now claim there is not an issue...

From…    Audi UK Customer Services

Subject:    AU-

Dear Mr

I write further to our telephone conversation regarding the brake noise from your Audi RS 3.

After escalating the issue to our Technical Support Team, I can confirm that we have no known issues with noisy front brakes on
Audi RS 3 vehicles. There are also no on-going investigations being undertaken by Audi for such an issue.

When braking lightly from a low speed, just before the vehicle comes to a standstill in forward and reverse, a brake noise can
be heard. This noise is caused by the typical friction of the brake pad and disc at low brake pressure.

The factors primarily influencing the noise are weather conditions such as, temperature and air humidity. Vehicle usage, such as
type of driving can also be a factor.

The noise can be more noticeable during the winter months; this is due to the use of salts on the road. These salts mixed with
water can contaminate both the brake pad and brake disc surfaces which can increase the noises further.

Regular hard braking and braking from high speed can significantly reduce the build up of contaminants and subsequently reduce
brake noises. These types of noises are audible to some degree on all vehicles irrespective of the manufacturer. They have no
negative influence on the vehicle brakes. Neither the brakes nor any other component can be damaged nor does it cause excess
brake wear. The noises do not affect the pedal force required or general braking; therefore no repairs are possible or necessary.

The Audi RS 3 needs to be able to stop at high and low speeds with corresponding high and low pedal pressure. This combined with
road dirt, salt, rust, water etc. means there has to be a compromise in the braking system components, and as such noises are
normal.

I hope you understand our position on this. Thank you for contacting us with your concern; I hope that this will not deter you
from continuing to enjoy driving your Audi RS 3.

Kind regards

Customer Relations Manager, Executive Office

As mentioned earlier in the thread , it increasingly looks like they have been instructed to drop support and any reference to 47i6 issue.

B@stards.

Can't fix the issue so let's pretend it doesn't exist.

Well folks, looks like as far as Audi are concerned we're all mushrooms then.

And that's putting it mildly.
