LOVE ALL of that, Pat, and well done you...

However, the biggest 'brake' MOAN on both the TTRS and RS3 is Low Speed 5 to 0mph Brake Squeal during road-use and them that have it want that sorted and with respect to Audi UK and Audi GmbH it was Audi GmbH who's said they'd sort it and at date; while they attempted to do so with the 47i6 upgrade applied if complaining to some cars the issue was not satisfactorily resolved for all.  The 8P RS3 has now gone as far as Audi GmbH is concerned and their interest now firmly focused on the 8V cars.

The fitment of the Brembo anti-squeal shims to the standard Audi brake pads, both 47i6 and pre-47i6, with a smear of CeraTec sorted the low-speed brake squeal issue for me and the use of these additional shims keeps the brake pads 'insurance' friendly and does not invalidate the Audi warranty.

Maybe an opportunity for you Daveb1970 to offer an anti-squeal shim kit of parts(?).

I had the very low speed squeal only occasionally on my Leon Cupra Brembos...usually when I'd pottered about around town (that's slow use for southerners) I found a good warm up and some (I love the phrase) spirited driving and it went away. The shims are fitted too I believe .....I was warned as said on here that sometimes they will squeal, others they won't
In other words performance brakes need to be performed or they don't operate correctly.....now I know nothing of what compounds part numbers materials are OE on our cars or what alternatives are being used but I've had squeal on a few cars

As for all the fuss about ceramics.....I killed a set on a GT2 using it through a winter....warranty didn't want to know as it was brakes ....not Porsches problem I was informed, me not following correct useage procedures....

Still not had a call from Audi UK, as I was promised to be called by yesterday once they have spoken to the head of business regarding my brakes, really starting to annoy me now, so they can be expecting some grief today!

New Discs , Pads and the new Calipers with the balancing bobbins on, will be fitted tomorrow. Tech who has just rung me says cant believe how bad the vibration is after only 1k miles on the new discs and pads. Aparently i will be issued with some bedding in instructions....

Now to get the wheel issue sorted  :boxing:

spoke to Audi just now, they are willing to give me new discs and pads for 50% discount, which is £500 quid......still a headache.

I mentioned the 47i6 update which was brought out to address the issues of brake squeal, etc and they say your model has not been affected.

but I don't have vibration but squealing for sure and now they are checking with senior colleagues to see if my model has been affected.

I said if the problem is not sorted I will be returning the car back as not fit for purpose.

They're talking pants, all RS3's that have problems with brake squeal should be addressed.

My car's March 2013 registered and I got the full kit from Glasgow Audi, if it was a case that some cars were not affected then you would assume it was later cars as they perhaps revised the brakes to sort it, the simple fact is that this never happened.

You should be getting them replaced no question.

I completely agree....still waiting on them to get back to me about this....it just seems like they are being flippant about the situation, not parting with any money what so ever, they should pay for this.

Loving the Brembo sport pads so far, no issues at all.

So glad I've found a pad that suits my RS 3.

Sounds great! Did you disable the factory wear wire as from my understanding the Brembo pads don't support this? also, are they being used on the "used" brake discs or did you need to buy new brake discs as well?

Did you need to bed them in?

Cheers!

I believe both Brembo Sport and EBC brake pads have cut outs for you to insert the brake pad sensor which you would have to buy separately. EBC have bedding in material on them so plug and play and installed them on used discs on the front and new discs on the rear. IIRC Veneeringman installed his on used discs as well.

Ironically what grumbling noise there was with my EBC's  was on the rears whilst they wore through the protective coating MTEC put on their discs to seal the hub mounts After a few week it has worn through and they are now quiet.

Yes they now have wear sensor cutout

Used discs yes, however I cleaned up the disc faces with emery paper to remove any deposits.

They look like some serious pads, what about bedding in? how did you go about that or did you just drive "gently" for the first 100 miles?

I've tried various pads from different manufacturers these are the latest ones and I am happy with them, I'm not advocating that they are suitable for everyone, just me. (Sorry but I'll be in trouble as I'm no expert so therefore can't advise or recommend) (see earlier posts for full reasoning)
Here you go extract from the Brembo procedure
Bedding procedure
• Drive vehicle to a remote area and perform at least
30 brake applications of 3 second duration. Use light/ medium deceleration with varying starting speeds. Leave at least 1⁄2 mile between each brake application
• The purpose of this procedure is to gradually increase
the temperature in the components without thermal shock, and to mate the brake pad and disc friction surfaces
• After the repeated stops, drive the vehicle for several miles with little or no braking in order to adequately cool the components
• The system is now ready for normal use
NOTE: This entire procedure must be complete before driving the vehicle as normal. It is especially important that this process is completed before any extended same-speed driving is done (i.e. freeway travel). Failure to follow these instructions greatly increases the likelihood of judder development.

Fair play To you Sean for persevering and as long as you're happy with them that's the main thing.

The latest bedding in procedure from Audi UK with regard to their 47i6 set-up is to carry out 25 100 Kph to 50 Kph stops using medium braking effort with 3 mins between each application for cooling, followed by three 100 Kph to zero with heavy braking (with the same 3 min gap between each one)

Just to keep you guys in the loop with my ongoing battle of getting my discs and pads replaced.

Audi UK are informing me that my model has not been affected, which when I countered it, say that even if it was, my car wouldn't be covered by the warranty as its classed as "Wear and Tear". So I am being left with no option other than to pay £483 to have new front discs and pads fitted.

So I have now emailed the Head of Business at Bolton Audi, Jon Sutcliffe to see if he can shed light on this issue and if he is aware of the 47i6 update.

Such a ba*l ache I swear....seriously contemplating a C63, forget even ordering the new RS3, my own RS3 is not even fixed.....

This was my fear. I have original brakes, covered for the balance of 5 years, currently without fault. I have approached Audi for advise incase I need them in future, and been fobbed off with the doesn't affect my vehicle, yet I have the original non b discs and all the wheel arch updates.
Mine is a May 2012, yet newer vehicles have had the update.

It seems like they have been instructed to dismiss 47i6 ever existed.

Some dealers are more forthcoming than others.

It appears that because the new model is out support on the old one is now non-existent so you'll want to buy a new one......

I wouldn't get too worked up about it fellas, even in the unlikely event (looks like by reading your posts) that they do fit the new discs and pads, it will start squealing again, there is no doubt about that, I would instead start looking at other alternatives if you are thinking of keeping the RS3 for a few years.

I guess I am fortunate that my brakes don't squeal - no update done - and they work very effectively but they do occasionally make the most horrendous grinding sound in hard application, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I took the car into my local dealer and got a workshop tech in the passenger seat - sure enough, the brakes were as quiet as a church mouse until we were almost back at the dealers when they made the grinding noise and the tech said '......they all do that.....' - something to do with the pads and discs oxidising??

Mine has had the upgrade parts and in the 3k I've done so far they've been silent and perfect in every way!
