Robinsky has them on his MK1

I spoke to Revo about them and they run them on their car with zero issues
A lot better than the oem offering.

It's like all these things, pay yer money and take the choice.

Albeit at least the Alcon discs are £850 if you buy through V-Hub.

I have the squealing brakes problem (mostly when they are cold or damp) and have been following the other brake problem thread in the hope that Audi were going to come up with a sensible fix - doesn't look like it though. My main issue with the brakes is the amount of fade due to the heat build up (combination of poor design of the discs and pad material), horrible grinding noise and then judder as the pad material gets stuck to the discs. This is especially obvious in the warmer summer months.

In February I am going to swap my standard discs for the Revo/Alcon versions as I believe they offer the best option outside of waiting for Audi to sort it out. They can be used with standard pads but I am going to go for either EBC Redstuff or Ferodo DS2500 as I think the standard pads are part of the problem (note- no brake pad wear sensors on Ferodo and you have to mod the wires on the EBC pads)

As you can see in the pics in the earlier posts, the Alcon discs are well made, they are 10mm bigger diameter than standard (you add a spacer to the caliper mounting), are handed to suit each side, are two piece whichs helps with thermal expansion to prevent warping, dont have big silly grooves which make them noisy, and can be replaced as a separate unit to the bell housing mount if ever they wear out.

Revo have been running a set on their modified demo car and have done many high speed stops at Bruntingthorpe with no issues , and a forum member (Robinsky) have had a set on his car for several months and has not has any concerns either.

Unless Audi come up with a miraculous fix between now and mid-Feb, then I will be opting for the REVO/Alcon upgrade.

Thanx alot! Did someone tried DBA discs? (Disc brake Australia). How are they compared to the alcon discs? And what do you do with the sensor if you put ferodo ds2500?

Guys, I've gone fully aftermarket on my brakes and got the AP racing discs for the front and the Tarox F2000 for the rear - I was sick of chasing Audi for answers and to be honest was not happy with the performance of the Oem discs (squealing noise aside).
I have also the ferodo DS2500 pads for the front and all are going on this coming week.
I'll let you know how they perform.

Why AP in front and not all corners or Tarox in all corners - just curious? I have Tarox for all corners with their pads but not mounted yet because of all salt and stuff on our roads up here ):.

Just personal preference for me, I'm a fan of both, but have been researching the AP's and spoken to the supplier who has developed and is running them with the Ferodo setup.

I understand that you are all doing trial and error. I haven't yet heard what exactly is the problem with the stock setup. Audi have just under warrantee installed new R8 discs on the front of my car with my old pads (2000 k.)

The R8 discs are very similar design, only one sided also, but they're a little smaller (356x32). IMO, if they've put them on with the oem pads, it's not gonna solve your issues, but I hope I'm wrong

Edit: the R8 front discs are the same size as the normal RS3 ones, although the other points remain

It doesn't matter if discs are for/from R8, RS5,RS6 or other top model as long its oem which is crap all the way and only thing is to go aftermarket because Audi can't handle it, proven in many years already.

The rear R8 discs are 356 mm as opposed to the stock front discs of the RS3 which are 360 mm?

356 x 32

Why the hell would they give me a smaller rotor? This is Audi's solution? A smaller rotor?!
