From what I've heard the brakes are rubbish. We have the same rear disc setup as a GTI

So you haven't actually got an 8V RS3 then......?

How can you make that assumption that the brakes are rubbish?

It's not like all the braking is done from the rears now is it............

What's wrong with the rear disc's on a GTI?

The rears on my RS3 are perfectly fine.
What problem are you having with yours?

They're tiny. Its a 50k hatch.

I've had an TTS and its had horrible brake imbalance which the 034 kit resolved. All will be revealed soon, 034 have sent me their rear rotor kit and intake to test fit on 8V.

I'm sorry, but that's a load of tosh....    that post would be more at home on A-S-N - not in an owners club discussion form

The value/cost/price of the car has absolutely no bearing on the size of the rear brakes....  nothing whatsoever...  The RS3 is also nothing like an GTI.

The RS3 is also nothing like a TTS, and why you would even contemplate considering putting a kit on a car on the basis of supposition?   There is a massive amount of experience in this club, and while there is some general grumbling over rust on rear brake discs, I'm not aware of any general consensuses to back up your assertion that the brakes are rubbish........

I've had mine for 6 months and put 10k miles on it, which I think makes me a reasonably well informed.

Haha, each to their own.

I have driven the RS3, just not long enough to bake the brakes. If horrible nose dive when you're braking is what you're used to then so be it, but thats not for me. Don't blame you though.

Coming from the A45 platform, the brake balance is second to none. Have plenty of experience on the VAG platform and the brakes on the RS3 is one of the first issues I'll be addressing.

No, seriously, if you think the brake balance is amazing on the RS3 I invite you to drive an A45 to see what you're missing.

D day in a few days.. All shall be revealed :)

Oh boy,  The amount of nose dive is as a result of inertia and is primarily affected by spring rates, shock absorbers and suspension geometry.  Proper brake bias just keeps the braking balanced front to rear, so one axle doesn't lock up way before the other does and both the front and rear brakes can operate at their full potential.

Seriously, why would you join the RS3 owners cub and within days start slagging off the RS3 before you even taken delivery of yours????  Is your name Dan?

Sounds like you want an anti dive kit from the likes of white line and as above some higher poundage springs

Yeah they are bigger discs so will have an additional bracket to move the calliper out.

Similar to the ones for the 8P to use the RS6 335mm disks

Those of you wanting to upgrade the rears

Rs7 discs

What needs to be changed to install the brake discs from RS7? The brake caliper? Splash shield for brake disc?
