How are you finding it works and performs ? Anything much to report ?

It makes the car Pat. I had the gearbox recalibrated at the same time, and the difference in the car now is night and day. Super slick gear changes accompanied by a twin oval choir!

Even pulling away in low gears, the sound is head turning.

I love driving this car!!

Yes, done by the dealers, and yes - because of clunkiness.  Apparantly, you can do it with VCDS as well, so I have since found out.

I did this on our TT after I changed the mech unit.
I also have the procedure in an email from a member on here for the 8P RS3.
Maybe the procedure for the 8V is the same.

I wonder if those of you who suffer from rough/hard gear changes had the dealer service guys hammer the car around pre-PDI and it learnt their behaviours ergo you needing to re-learn(re-set) the gearbox??

Recalibrate should be different than reset? What  are they recalibrating, shift times like 0,9s to 0,7s or what are they doing? I know that if you chip your car you can change how fast you want gearbox to shift and so on.....

Recalibration of both clutch engagement pressures and timings.

VCDS process is listed on Ross Tech site

0BH - Basic Settings
- Standstill Adaptation procedure for UDS Controllers

Prerequisites:
- Transmission fluid temperature greater than 15°C
- Do NOT continue if the temp is out of specs! -
- Advanced Measuring Values = [Control Module temperature]
- Selector lever in [P]
- Engine idle speed, do not press accelerator pedal
- Parking brake and foot brake applied during the entire procedure

- Note: Not all transmission controllers support this function

0BH - Basic Settings Procedure

- Be sure all the Prerequisites are followed, important! - The brake pedal must be depressed during the entire procedure.

[Select]
[02 - Transmission]

[Basic Settings - UDS]
- Select [Basic settings of transmission]

Next click [Show Measuring Data] and select:
- [Engine speed]
- [Main status of abort code basic setting]
- [Status of basic setting]
- [Status of basic setting data for clutch]
- [Status of basic setting data; gear selector]
- [Sub-status of abort code basic setting]

Then press [Go!]

- During the basic setting procedure, there maybe some loud gear shifting noises from the transmission, this is normal.

Basic settings may not complete successfully if:
- The fluid temperature gets too hot.
- Brake is released

Once complete, there should be an indication of this in the [Status of Basic Settings].

Then click - [Done, Go Back] and Check for fault codes.

Please let us know how this works for you, and if you have any questions, thank you for your patience,

Peter

Hi - It was me that posted on ASN about the bridging pipe on the Sports exhaust c.f. the standard one. I pondered the differences myself when ordering and thats why I had a crawl around underneath both dealer demo cars.

I'm so glad I ordered the sports exhaust but I didnt really want the mag.suspension. However, its a bit of a bargain giving the price of the sports exhaust alone :-)

Hi guys, for that sort of money why not get a miltek - if they have one out yet. Awesome exhausts ... You can get resonated or non resonated and even switchable like the standard valves! I had one on my B7 RS4 well worth it, a better sound and a bit more power and torque - just a thought...

Mine was under £1500, there's nothing special just ask your dealer to order the sports exhaust from junction behind the cat back. That plus a new flange gasket, 20 minute job, and my dealer didn't charge me labour for the fit.

For what it's worth, anyone with a mig welder and a plasma torch could modify the standard exhaust I have in the garage hanging up, for half the cost of a sports exhaust!

I was tempted to go the modded route but decided i'd prefer to keep it OEM  then again i also have everything available to do an exhaust remodel.....

Still waiting for a reply from the dealer at the moment as it must be really hard to find a part number and tell me how much.  ;)

I'd want switchable so the neighbours dont get fed up with the odd 4am wake up.

Its food for thought tho. In no immediate rush but would prefer some more noise.

With the sports exhaust (in your case staying OEM) you are always gonna get that super loud with crackles and pops start up no matter what mode exhaust is in.
