So heres the thing, I took the car in this morning (sorry Pat forgot the video as pushed for time), and on my way out, I said to the service desk chap David, can you just put the old back box in the boot, me thinking that it was just the back box that was different.
I can't do that I'm afraid, came his reply, its too big!
Oh well I say, I'll have to arrange to bring the Q5 up to collect it.
That might not work either, he says - its probably too big!
Too big? How blooming big is it I ask?
Well i'ts hanging up in the parts department, and its the biggest thing in there. It's about 5 foot long, and 4 foot wide! Its a complete unit from the cat back.
think I may need van to pick it up!

Wow be great If the tech would take a pic of em side by side.....poss they are same most of the way back but come as a full unit when ordered so it's a new exhaust......what you going to do with the std one ?So heres the thing, I took the car in this morning (sorry Pat forgot the video as pushed for time), and on my way out, I said to the service desk chap David, can you just put the old back box in the boot, me thinking that it was just the back box that was different.

I'm hoping someone will want mine one day but you could be waiting ages unless you swap back and sell I guess

I've sent an e-mail to the dealer asking if they can do a side by side comparision piucture, after the standard on has been taken off, and before the sports one is fitted.
As I'm planning on keeping the car at least 5 years, I may sell it. I did that with my XF-R, and don't really want it hanging about. I'm sure there is at least one exhaust/tuning company who would buy it to cut it open, or play with it!!
It also might suit an owner for who the sports exhaust is just too loud (that would be a rare thing!)

hmmmm, I would definitely consider swapping my sports exhaust back to the standard -quieter- exhaust...

If he manages to take a picture or two side by side it will provide some valuable information on the exhaust differences, if any! I bet they end up looking virtually the same, but would love to know. Still never heard a sports exhaust in the flesh and I won't now until mine arrives!I've sent an e-mail to the dealer asking if they can do a side by side comparision piucture, after the standard on has been taken off, and before the sports one is fitted.

There are no physical differences between the standard and sports exhaust. The only difference is the baffles in the back box.

An interesting point; on the standard exhaust when idling in Dynamic mode, the nearside exhaust pipe is noisier/louder than the offside one.

No visible difference that I can see...
It should be simple to modify to be loud!

i read that just before the chrome tips there is a small ally tube that connects the two pipes coming out the back box together. this is on each side.
can you confirm that this is a difference between the standard and sports?

I really would like to have something that can give us a visual on the differences.
I think because factory got my wing mirror covers mixed up i now have this doubt that they may mixed other things up. mainly, did they put the standard exhaust on instead of the sports that i specced. don't get me wrong. the exhaust is loud, pops and cracks etc etc.
But i have heard people saying that the standard exhaust does the same. I just watched the launch vid in main thread and thats apparently standard. i can't work out if mine is louder or not
So yes, if these little tubes connecting just before the chrome tips are the difference then that will set my mind at rest. unless there is a part number stamped on them somewhere?????

I wouldn't think to check with it bein a factory order, but seems they have mixed up a couple of car specs now.
Same with mag ride, is there a way to tell whether your car actually has it or not. Expensive extras to not have that you've paid for
