To anyone with noisy chains.
Finally heard from Bolton Audi today. They tell me the timing chain is noisy.I seem to remember in the long distance past that`s what I told them many moons ago.Anyway they have been given the go ahead to replace chains, tensioners and the variable cam timing sprockets.Does anybody out there think the muppets ,sorry slip of the keyboard, techs
are capable of doing this huge job without causing further problems.
Also is it worth fitting a new DMF whilst everything is apart even though I`ll have to pay for it.Car`s done
30000 miles.

That's one hell of a job! Will they be dropping the engine out for that?

I've just started raising a case with Audi uk as my car runs out of warranty shortly and concerned that it's going to go wrong once warranty ends so I wanted it rectified soon.
As couple of guys witnessed it at RS3 fest and said it's not right but yet Audi can't find anything purely because they plug it Into a machine it's not a electrical fault 😡

It may well be worth it Neil, while they are in that deep.
At least you've no worries then.

If flywheel is similar to the 3.2 TT you'll be looking at around £380-400 just for the part (plus the 10 bolts that hold it on)

I've got 0w30 with no issues. It's what was supplied with the car from Audi

0w 30 is definitely not right. You`ll have virtually no oil pressure from cold.

Don't see how, been running absolutely fine as far as I can see. I've only been topping it up with 0w30, doing an oil service next month. It's the oil that Audi supplied me with the car last December. Pretty sure I checked it out on the forum when I first got the car and seemed to be fine

I've been running 5w30 and 5w40 in my S4 so think I'll just stick to 5w40 in both seems a lot easier
