Matt

Why not buy 2 sets at that price mate !

Dell.

Didn't want to be greedy Dell in case someone else on here wanted a set plus they'll last me ages as I've got a bit of life left in my pads yet so won't be fitting straight away..
although the more I think about it the more I'm tempted to fit them!

Trevor is the authorised Ferodo parts dealer for the uk.
I’d say he’d match or better those prices.

Oh sorry Dell I’m not saying don’t buy them from wherever...... just wanted to inform people of who Ferodo sell through in the uk.

Trevor is the man in direct contact with Ferodo HQ.

Out of interest, has anyone any experience or stories about Tarox pads?
They've started offering them for the 8V and the very few reports I've seen of them on other cars were positive.

My garage put Apec pads on (same as used on London Taxis)

They work fine on road driving but vision is obscured on the track due to the clouds of smoke.

The garage put these on as they would be destroyed on the track and not ruin the discs or boil over the break fluid and are very cheap to replace.

Happy Days

Agreed ^^^^100%
Ebc were a rubbish pad when I tried both red and yellow ‘stuff’

Loved Ferodo DS performance though.

Superb.

Sean, Ive received my pads today but what I didn't expect was to see that there is no shim or backing plate/material on the rear of the pad.
Did you run yours as they come or us a backing plate/shim of some description? I know from experience the lack of something on the back of the pad cause squeal?

Matt.

Ive the cheaper Ferodos fitted at this time but the DS ones are going in when i get round to replcing the worn discs.

The backings are the same on both the Ferodo pads as the OEM ones.

Cheers mate.
Hopefully performance compound won't be any different. Will make sure I put a nice coating of ceratec grease on them

Hi Matt

No mate, when I fitted the pads to my 8P there where no shims supplied with the DS Ferodo pads, however......
Like a fool I fitted the pads using the shims from the short lived Yellow stuff pads, thinking that they ‘needed’ a shim....
How wrong was I instead of squeal upon braking, I had squeal upon no braking.
What was happening was the Ferodo pads were slightly thicker than oem pads, so the addition of a ‘shim’ gave the new pads no where to back off, so they rubbed against the discs when the pedal wasn’t being pressed.

Soon cured though, took them removed shims and used Ceratec.

Car was quiet after that.

Same on the 8V too no shims and no squeal.
They’ll soon be going on the FL too.

Matt/Sean

I've never on any off my cars or motorcycles put anything on the backs off the pads, but I've always filed down the side edges to remove the flashings & paint so the pads could move freely & wouldnt stick In the brake calipers.

It's never let me down or ive ever had any noise problems.

Whatever works Dell.

I always remember the first time I attempted to get the OEM pads out of the 8P RS3
Let me say they were well and truly jammed in solid......
A coating of Copper grease on the edges and back made them far easier to get in and out.

Thanks mate!
bet you couldn't believe what you were hearing and the OEM setup squeal must have seemed like nothing! Haha
will look forward to fitting and seeing what they perform like

Sean

I learn that lesson many many years ago with motorcycle brake & so I always redress the edges to alleviate that problem off them jamming up mate.
