I think the trouble is Sean is that on the whole the good old days of taking your car down to your local mechanic are by and large gone.
It seems to me that the vast majority of these so called "technicians" are nothing more than glorified auto-electricians.
There's no apprenticeship to allow these guys to learn their trade. Basically they plug the car in and rely on the diagnostics to tell them what needs to be done.
If the car needs a mechanical fix
they're absolutely f'ckd because they have about as much idea as the square root of sweet FA.
The biggest issue with Audi Technicians is they aren’t allowed to think on their own, they are stifled by Audi mothership procedures, everything has to go on the computer and if computer says ‘no’ then that’s that I’m afraid.
Look at the brake fiasco across various RS incarnations, replace, replace, replace......never learning from their mistakes, never listening to owners....
The new exhaust I’m having next week is another fiasco, a widespread issue affecting a lot of new 3’s, yet when it’s brought up at a dealer they come up with some totally half baked explanation that to me never made sense, but they are the supposed ‘experts’ and we have to take their word for it, because of the info they are fed from the mothership.....
Why though, is the mothership wrong on so many occasions ? After all....... they make the blooming things
