I know, we can't believe it. Worse thing is Audi Worthing are just as shocked as we are and their suppose to be fixing it!

Thanks Roy

I feel your pain......

Our Mk1 spent 3 months in total at Audi for a Gearbox mount......
They only found it by accident after replacing all the front suspension 🤨

It seems some dealers are just clueless when asked to tackle major repairs.

I think the trouble is Sean is that on the whole the good old days of taking your car down to your local mechanic are by and large gone.

It seems to me that the vast majority of these so called "technicians" are nothing more than glorified auto-electricians.

There's no apprenticeship to allow these guys to learn their trade. Basically they plug the car in and rely on the diagnostics to tell them what needs to be done.

If the car needs a mechanical fix
they're absolutely f'ckd because they have about as much idea as the square root of sweet FA.

The biggest issue with Audi Technicians is they aren’t allowed to think on their own, they are stifled by Audi mothership procedures, everything has to go on the computer and if computer says ‘no’ then that’s that I’m afraid.

Look at the brake fiasco across various RS incarnations, replace, replace, replace......never learning from their mistakes, never listening to owners....

The new exhaust I’m having next week is another fiasco, a widespread issue affecting a lot of new 3’s, yet when it’s brought up at a dealer they come up with some totally half baked explanation that to me never made sense, but they are the supposed ‘experts’ and we have to take their word for it, because of the info they are fed from the mothership.....

Why though, is the mothership wrong on so many occasions ? After all....... they make the blooming things

Oh dear.

They do seem pretty clueless, which is why I am worried it going back to Worthing for a third time. It doesn't help that they are 200 miles away from me.

200 miles

Christ that’s some journey and a whole lot of messing around.

Terrible that they don’t get this right.

It is a long journey especially with an oil leak. This time I have refused for them to drive it down and they are arranging a transporter to come and get it. So they have been pretty good in that respect. It's just a shame they are struggling to sort it. I have told them that this is the last chance they have and if they don't fix it, I will send it to my local Audi dealer

OMG! I can't believe this is happening again Daniie  :o

It's bad enough it happend in the first place, but 3 times is just totally unacceptable!

This must be sole destroying & so off putting, after the time you spent searching for the right car & for it to be giving all this unnecessary hassle.

I really feel for you...

This sort of thing really highlights just how useless Audi mechanics (if that's the right word to describe them - NOT) really are!
Its good you've contacted Audi UK - lets just hope they deliver....

Again hope it gets sorted very soon?

You and me both.

It is unacceptable. It is putting us off keeping the car which is such a shame because we love the car and we worked so hard to get it in the first place and spent so long finding what we thought was the right one and this is how it turns out.

Audi UK were deeply disappointed in the way we have been treated and said it is completely unacceptable and not what they expect from their franchises. Just hope we can get it solved now Audi UK are involved but I'm not going to get my hopes up to high.

I bet we are looking at another 4 - 6 weeks without the car again.

I will keep this post updated as and when we we know anything.

I actually think monkeys could do a better job.

We have also found out that they have used silicone around the gearbox to seal it to the engine!!

I am losing the will to live!

What a saga! I completely understand you "losing the will to live". Extremely unlucky to say the least, and enough to put you off Audi for life.

I was going to suggest the local dealer option. You have given the Worthing crew at least one more chance than they really deserve, even if their customer services part has been OK. At least you would be able to better keep an eye on things better if the car was at Leicester Audi and - you never know - they might have better techs? That is, if your claim for a full refund from the original dealer fails, which would still be my main objective. You should be able to get clear advice on line as to whether you are within your rights to pursue a 'reject goods' claim, which would be cheaper than a solicitor, initially at least. And I think you want more from Audi UK than shared disappointment!

That explains how they managed to reverse mine into the workshop wall.

It's been a nightmare. We had an A3 S-line diesel and it was perfect never had a problem with it, then we get this and it's just been one thing after another.

I am trying to get it to a local dealer. I won't take it to Leicester as I had nothing but problems with them when we took the diesel and a TT that we had. Hence why the RS3 has never been. Our friend took his S5 there for a service and they took it for a joyride and was thrashing it about. The guy actually lost his job over it. We have been going to Nottingham with the RS3 who have been really good the only thing I can fault them for is being able to get hold of the service manager but since having his email address I have no problems. Worthing rang me back after I had spoken to Audi UK and said that they were coming up in the week to fetch the car. I have got to wait for a customer service relations manager to call me before I can go any further with Audi UK. As they will be our representative. So when I get the phone call from them I am going to see if they can get it in at Nottingham. I might try again with Worthing tomorrow when they ring to see if they will just let it go to Nottingham.

I am going to speak to citizens advice and see what they say. Ideally I don't want to get rid of the car as we absolutely adore it. I just want them to fix it like they should of in the first place.

After reading this Dannii, it seems like this on going issue is really putting you and your partner through it.
It is a pity that the warranty company won’t let you use a VAG specialist who actually know what they are doing as I’m sure this problem would have more than likely been sorted out first time if it was in the right knowledgeable hands. Good luck on the car and try and keep your heads up over this👍

It is definitely testing our patience.

I could take it to a VAG specialist but I will have to pick up the costs and with owning an RS3 and a house I don't have several thousand pounds lying around and I would have to go to court to claim it back and it could take up 12 months. So if I can get Audi to fix it then it will save me some stress.

Thank you, seeing you guys all having fun with your RS3's is keeping me going that I will get that one day.

I hope so think it's the least I deserve.

Painful indeed. Even more so that Audi UK think I am liable for the costs!!

Thank You, it's going to be a very long few weeks...
