RS7 stock plugs are an upgrade, 12£ per plug on eBay

Wish I had managed to find them, just paid £320 for the 8 I needed for the RS7 at its service! Mind Audi were originally wanting £430!

Duke, what mileage are you at?

Trying to work out the best time to change out things so I keep at peak perfrormance.

Mine were replaced at 28k (at remap) and plug coils a little later at 30k.

Red, currently at 53K miles. The plugs that I just took out looked fine to be honest. A bit Sooty around the electrodes but the gap was the same as the new ones.

Mine were last changed at 32K and I think that was the first time they had been done. At the time I got Audi to do it during a service as I asked them to check when they were last changed as there was nothing in the service book. When they looked there was nothing on Audi's maintenance record for the car to say they had ever been changed.

No real noticeable affect since the new ones were fitted so sticking to Audi,s 19K period should be fine for stock engines. Not sure about mapped engines though.

FYI on the 8V Audi are changing the plugs every 20k. They charged me £163 to S&F them, probably a rip off ;)

Audi charged me £170 to supply and fit so seeing as I got a set for £69 and fitted them myself that's £100 I didn't have to give the stealers.

As TX says 20k on the 8P and same on the 8V

If you source them online or from a TPS they are a straight forward thing to change yourself.....

2 Torx screws undone from the coil pack rack, then starting from the left hand side carefully un-clip each coil pack from its connector, then withdraw the whole coil pack connector rack towards you, if you've not got a coil pack puller then a cable tie or your hand will suffice......

You forgot the hall affect sensor Sean. It's on the same loom as the coil pack connectors. If you unplug this it's a lot easier to move the rack out of the way to work on the plugs. You can't miss it as it's right on the front of the engine. 1/2 hour job tops and that included a VCDS scan afterwards.

True Duke

However I've never felt the urge to unplug it, as the connector rail swings up enough for me to access the coil packs/plugs.

For anyone wondering as Duke says it's item 6 on the screen shot above...

Maybe I have thin fingers or I'm just strong but I pull them up by hand 😉😂
If I were mapped id recommend changing the plugs more frequently than Audi say as they last nowhere near as long 😉

I had my plugs changed at 20,000 by Audi and they charged me Â£170-00

Must be standard charge

Excuse the novice question BUT is a coil pack and spark plug the same thing? Or is the spark plug within the coil pack

So the spark plug sits inside the coil pack?
