Interesting to not see the wavy brakes. Wonder if they squeal though?!

TX.

Hopefully not in the showroom! I guess the 'squeaks' here would be potential clients looking at the price ;-)

Latest rumour on German TT forum. Don't shoot the messenger and not sure I believe this one, but it is interesting and has some circumstantial evidence.

All Audi 5-cylinder products are to be withdrawn from sale by the end of this month (although December 15th has also been mentioned). This includes the TTRS and the RSQ3. The RSQ3 is no longer available on the configurator (http://www.uk.audi.c...s/q3/rs-q3.html) and you can only buy pre-built units from dealer stock in the UK and Germany. No reason given other than both engines use the same banned refrigerant which needs to be withdrawn from sale by year end.

There will be no 5-cylinder product available until at least BW24 (June 2017) and even then there is no information that will be the TT RS. Rumour suggests it will only be the RS 3 Saloon with the 'fixed' 5pot at that stage. Rumour also states this will be the last 5 cylinder from Audi.

As I said above and stress again, this is a German rumour on a forum and there is no evidence other than circumstantial incidents like the continued information on the refrigerant and the withdrawal of the RSQ3. I really hope this is not true. yabb_sad.gif

I'd heard that rumour about the refrigerant and it could perhaps explain the limit amount of engines that were available?

If Audi now pull the plug on the TTRS it's not great.... unless of course you've got a used one for sale!

Certainly looks like it'll have a huge impact on the saloons arrival then.

The RSQ3 must be near its end anyway, I know there's a new Q5 arriving next year as I was told not to place an order on the SQ5 recently.

Quick Q? If this refrigerant is being outlawed in 2017, what would it mean in terms of servicing the current Audi 5 Cyl engines?

From what I've read the issue is that the new TT RS doesn't have type approval and so can't be registered after 31st Dec unless it uses an appropriate refrigerant. The regulations apply to new vehicles only, so not an issue for you getting a current Audi 5 cylinder engine serviced.

More info here. It looks as though the TT RS contravenes the Phase 3 rules - see https://ec.europa.eu...ning-systems_en

Good for you. Looking forward to seeing lots of pictures and hearing a real world view from an Audi enthusiast. Hopefully one day I'll be able to have one on my drive too.

The engine in the RS Q3 isn't affected by the regulations for new cars. As Mac D says the RS Q3 must be near the end of it's life. And given the that the TT RS and the RS3 saloon will have a significantly different 5 cylinder engine, why would a manufacturer keep a model going with the older engine.

On the TT Forum someone mentioned rumours on some Facebook sites that there were issues with cooling on the new 5 cylinder engine. But then that could be people getting wires crossed with the refrigerant in the cooling system LOL.

There is always the potential for issues with a new engine that don't show in pre-production testing. I'm sure if there are issues they will be sorted out. Given the PR for the RS3 Sedan in the States in would be a real about face if Audi take the 5 cylinder engine out of production. Even if VAG problems in the State mean there is no longer a market then Europe and Australia will take saloons - IMHO.

Update to this, I'll have the car on the 16th and give back on 19th. Going to aim to get it on a dyno and see what they can output and go for some spirited driving. Will let you know my thoughts.

Will be good if you can get it on a dyno - expect to see maybe 420bhp +??

I had my TTRS test drive cancelled as they want to sell the car (no doubt at a premium given the shortage of available cars). Was also told that other RS models are getting pushed back, RS4 until early 2018 (was summer 2017), RS3 Saloon may also rollover into 2018.

Audi must be in a bit of spin with all these delays on their premium brand at a time when market share of competitors like Merc AMG are growing.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the residual values of the current model RS3 Sportback if there is no alternative new performance Audis for another year or more.

Ok folks, update is I've had the car all today and got it till Sunday. Taking it to Litchfield tomorrow to put on their dyno but as a quick overview this car is savage, seriously seriously quick. I would say it's the difference between an s3 and an RS3 in terms of how much quicker it is, maybe a little bit more.
