Agreed uncle, but in this case we don't have all the facts, so until I do, then all I will post is what everyone like to do best, speculate with the information I do have. What I do have is not being published here (yet) because I know how quickly people like to drag things down hill without root cause analysis being completed.

In late April/early May my car had a TPI software update applied for engine control unit which was to do with the fuelling ,the code is 24CIW this might be of some use to you .

My car is completely stock .

Unfortunately Kim had recently sold the QS Tuning RS3 and so we didn't have it available as a comparison either.

Ah, that'll be the one I saw at Edition 38 yesterday on the Vossen stand with QST adverts then.

After almost 20 runs on the Dyno at QST last Monday, all I really drove away with was have your car/engine etc checked by Audi..... (added to the fact Charlie at SRR was surprised my MTM result was lower than the stock result on his Dyno.. I was a little.... hmmmm.. hesitant let's say, to see what Audi said...)

I was confident the car/engine was healthy after a punishing run back from QST last week though (stock), it returned no unwanted sensations, hesitancy, smoke, vibration, stutter (anything you can think of)....

So yesterday, my car was into Portsmouth Audi to be "health" checked on their diagnostics machine.....

I also asked them to apply any/all TPI's and software update available for my car.....

...Suffice to say it returned 100% healthy from their perspective, nil problems or faults recorded in the ecu. Also, there are nil outstanding TPI's or software updates that could be applied to my car, my ecu software is still at version 003 (current latest for my VIN, say Audi, though we know some are at version 005), and Kim suspected this ecu version "may" have messed with the M-Cantronic in some way and we were hoping it would be updated to potentially resolve the issues observed.

I'm now back to see Kim on Friday to see we go from here as according to his Dyno, my car only produced 375HP tuned, with some improvement on Tq (so as to why the car "feels" better than stock when using the bum-dyno).

...to be continued...

..interim continued..

Having had a discussion with Kim this morning, he feels I've been a little too... negative... towards the MTM box in my recent posts and that I have deliberately posted information to point fault towards, and only towards the MTM M-Cantronic.

Now, I feel, and expressed to Kim this morning, that I have posted with the sole intention to be neutral until we find the root cause of the dyno results returned on my car at both SRR and QST (I even recall saying this to UF earlier in the thread).  So at this point, my car could potentially still be the problem, opposed to the M-Cantronic, ergo, I have subsequently booked it in for, post discussion this morning, an independent, full health and diagnostic check with a very well recognised and respected Audi tuning specialist - this will give just about every possible readable/measurable engine related figure anyone could ever be interested in to see once and for all if my engine is behaving as it should, therefore lead onto the next stage if it either is, or isn't healthy.

Kim wanted me to also point out why he thinks my engine is not healthy, this is because, from his dyno report, my car is "massively under powered" and only produces 368hp max (stock) measured on Monday.

..to be continued.. (once I have the independent health check completed)..

Forgive my ignorance, is it possible the box has confused the car / ecu and now that it's disconnected the car is even more confused? Is there an ecu reset option eg start again?

good question well presented. Audi themselves found no issue, by all accounts the ecu re-learns(?) itself, but in all honesty, i've no idea... open to all...

Did you have a dyno run at QST before and after the box was first fitted?.

nope...

Only run was independent at SRR, and it was the anomalous result there, that got me curious else I wouldn't have known any different. I could feel the Tq increase... hence it felt all good, just not the advertised good, for now.. unknown reasons yet to be quantified.

If you read back a few years on the forum a similar thing happened with the APR 8p map.

I'm still at SP on Saturday, up against Wayne (decat) and Shaun (tuned and stuff :D) (and possibly Brian (stock), come on son you know you want to :P) so my meager stock hp car should be suitably embarrassed :P

I think even before I get it health checked, this will be a good indicator for me (stock).

I will, of course, also do a MTM run, but it is essentially staying stock until health checked.

Thanks for the update Steve,

Good to hear that your are going to get your car checked out thoroughly first, a lot of people wouldn't bother going to all the trouble (and cost) of finding out the facts in a methodical approach, I suspect that many would take the easy route of slagging off the product first.

If I remember correctly, your car was registered around Oct/Nov last year. I was recently told by a reputable tuning company, that apart from the press cars, some of the early cars they tested were actually running closer to the manufacturers reported spec of 367ps (362bhp) - maybe your car could be one of them?? If so, maybe this has just left too much work for the MTM box to conjure up to meet the expected power figures. QST may need to 'fine tune' your box to get the best from it for your car (although I don't know if this is possible)

No probs Brian

I'm sure last week Kim mentioned tweaking the tune but I'm also sure he said it has to be done by MTM Germany, he can then update the box software locally (I think, but I'm speculating now, it may even need hardware replacing inside I don't know), as there is nothing external unlike DTUK, to tweak, either way, I'm pretty certain I want to assure both Kim and myself the health of my engine (be it good or bad) before we can effectively move forward and progress with finding a working solution, I may even need new hardware :ambulance:

My car was registered october last year. I had my car dyno'd a couple months ago and made 390bhp standard before having a stage 1 APR put on the car. I have heard of a few cars been dyno'd and made near what Audi quote at 362bhp though.
