Does Audi not use vcds

They use their own version. However I've experienced faults come up on VCDS my end but when it's gone into main dealer to investigate they can't find any logged faults. So in my opinion VCDS is a much better tool.

Like been said its not affecting performance just annoying

mines only does it now and then when its parked up wee rev and it goes away, nothing i have ever been concerned about, right enough the amount of money you have paid for the RS3 you wouldnt expect a noise like that but never enough to make me want to take it the stealers

It's strange but I'm just gonna run her and I had enough of booking it in every month going to see if it develops over next few months and get my mate to have a look will let you know if I find out

Hi Neil do you still have the paperwork for your chain repair from Bolton Audi ? As the repair that I have had done hasn't made a blindest bit of difference to my car it still does the same thing as did before they done any work if anything it's worse and I just wanted to check the parts you had replaced against mine as they missed two main parts out the first time

quick question for those who have had their chains/tensioners replaced under warranty, isn't the warranty only meant to cover items that have broken and not just gotten noisier, was there any push back from the dealers along these lines?

Is yours noisy? If it is the first port of call is to record the noise then argue with the dealer for the next 3 months to actually get them to admit there`s a problem.

Basically I was told by the dealer that they will have to remove the gearbox to see if there was a problem I just knew there was something not right and they said It was down to me for them to do it if there was not a problem then I would have to pay for the gearbox removal luckily for me they found the tensioners to be slightly slack so they told the warranty company that there was a chain fault and everything chain related had to be replaced and that was covered by the extended warranty and cost me nothing apart from the extended warranty of course, just make sure they replace to two valve adjusters as well as these turned out two be the main problem the same as Neil's it was not a quick thing it took me 3 months by constantly taking the car in and asking them to check out what the problem was and also for the problem to occur while a Audi tech was in the car in the end I recorded the noise on my phone and took that to Audi they can't ignore or say they can't hear there is a problem from that I set my phone up every day for a week to get a clear recording even to the point of popping the bonnet up before I went anywhere good luck to you all if you have this issue I still have a noise coming from mine on acceleration and Audi have said there is nothing more they can do and they don't know what it is so I'm going elsewhere to a specialist it could be anything but I want someone different to take a look so I'm of to MRC tuning next month for a dyno check see what comes of that

I had a Scan Over the TPI system today and there is a Known issue there for ticking noise on start up and a software update for it, all it states is that on start up the engine gets an oil pressure boost on startup till warm, supose this combats noises in l/h side of engin eg where chain is, till it is all warm, i can give you the tpi if you pm me

That TPI is only for the very very early cars.Virtually all cars will have had this incorporated in updates .Mine had this update before I owned the car .It didn`t make a blind bit of difference ,chain was still noisy until it was replaced.

took mine to the dealer and they recorded the noise themselves, they recommended chains and tensioners to be replaced which Audi have agreed with so Ive got the work scheduled, also replacing a broken spring. Dealer warranty manager and service tech were really helpful.
