Mine is always kept in a garage, always warmed up properly in the garage, is used everyday not just for short runs either and not ragged within an inch of its capabilities everytime it is used and if i do have my foot down in it i will stay out in ot for another 5-10 mins at 30-40mph to cool it down before i take it back home. And i am at 12000 miles now

I was out in it for the first time in a long time on my own had a run out in it and used the LC

After my brake fix touch wood ive had no problems

Fletch, my comments are by no means a personal dig and it is all relative. How old is your car as I see you say it now has 12k miles on it?

Its 3 years old... . But as i have said before on here it has been treasured and never abused, never driven whilst cold and no expense spared on it even down to never putting anything but 99ron or above petrol in it.

Even when i have been away working i have always came back let run to full temp on the oil gauge and then its been taken for a long run with me taking my time with it not being used for a few weeks.

I have even had 2 large extractor fans fitted in the garage to allow it to run to full temp before every use to stop the exhaust fumes filling the house.

I'm sure but 12k miles for a 3 year old car isn't much, when I am talking regular use I'm talking about minimum 12k miles per year.

I completely disagree. There's a difference between not using a car every day, and leaving it laid up for 6 months. To be honest Fletch, you sound more considerate towards your car than 99% of owners who have never seen a single problem.

I'd consider any car that has to be driven 12,000 miles a year in order not to break as faulty by design. Mine is 2½ years old, and has done ~14k miles, and will cover about 8k miles this year. It gets used maybe every other day, and if anything on it was to break, under-use would be the very last cause I'd suspect. I mean, it's not like it's French...

Just to add another positive voice to the discussion, my car is an 11 plate with about 35k on the clock now. I've never used LC (never felt the need) but I do drive the car hard quite often after it has warmed up. My car has never missed a beat and it was an ex-demo so some people might consider it a 'high risk'.

So it's hardly the case that the cars are fragile out of the box.

Each to their own Virago, from personal experience of running my 9th Audi now and my 2nd RS model after 2 S models, I have seen and heard owners have issues with each of the cars I have had when I have owned them and those that are daily drivers don't have the issues those that ar occasionally used do. Draw your own conclusions or none at all, your choice.

I get where you're coming from, but I suspect there's more at play here. Plucking an example out of my arse, a daily driver is probably used for commuting so likely to be driven during more congested periods, therefore driven slower and than a weekend toy.

The idea that simply using my car 50% more in will somehow make it less likely to have issues doesn't quite add up in my mind. But then my mind is strange place, so disagreeing with me is probably a safe bet!

You are right PG in that cars that sit about tend to have more issues,  We learned that with the Mrs's old Mk4 R32 which used to sit about for weeks on end.

Then when it did run there was always something going wrong.

My cars are used daily and sit in the commute traffic however if there's any opportunity to stretch it's legs i'll take it…. like probably most of you.

I do tend to drive it when cold with a little mechanical sympathy, In fact i'm just getting used to that cold rev limiter on the RS4 again :)

I am waiting on Audi UK getting back to me within the next 48hrs from the call this morning

I know it definitely needs a new prop shaft which is £1180+ :(

I have not priced anything else as i am hoping Audi UK are going to come back with something positive.

As for being totally bolloxed i was out friday and Saturday night it took me until yesterday to recover, advantages of being single again can go out when ever you want too and nobody to moan on at you about you being ill for 2 days afterwards :)

I will update you all as i get the info

Just corrected your typo there. Reserve your judgement until you've taken it to the independent.

Fingers crossed for you Fletch, I would hope and expect Audi will at least come to some sort of an agreement with you. Hopefully it will be a satisfactory one if not there's always Twitter and Facebook they got the brake squeal issues moving a while back ...
