I like the way it looked, I loved the way the v8 sounds...... But sadly that's it.
To me it felt nothing special slower than I thought but good brakes better than the RS3
But I had the first rs4 bi turbo now that felt special
But my day only got better!!!
The sales staff pointed me to a ibis white rs5 cabriolet......... Wow
I'm having it tommorrow for a test drive!!!
Can't wait.........

Following the Lakes trip I thought i'd report back how the RS3 handled the same route.
Firstly the instant power is something i'd really miss in the RS3 and its extremely nimble however I haven't come away thinking wow the RS3 would really out handle the RS4 in fact I'm not sure there's anything between them which has really surprised me.
You can punch the RS3 out of those corners far more aggressively but mines running software so it certainly should be better in this area and don't get me wrong mine will wipe the floor in a straight line with an RS4 !
The brakes are better on the RS4 but they have to be as it weighs so much more, Has anyone tried these on the RS3 I wonder?
The RS4 comes into its own on the motorway, The RS3 is a noisy poorly insulated cabin in comparison HOWEVER the RS4 is designed to be the quieter comfy cruiser so its not a criticism of the RS3 at all just a comparison.
This is though what makes you feel like your in something that'll nip off a cheeky overtake, Perhaps in the RS4 you'd be caught dozing on occasions as you'd be more inclined to sit back and relax on a longer journey taking in scenery.
What I'd like to see on the new RS3 but don't think it'll get is DRC, This was really where the two cars end up night and day and allow you too switch between a harder setting sports mode and comfort to soak up bumps.
I'm left feeling a little more tired having driven the RS3 for a few hours and i purely put this down to the fact you can't switch into comfort mode for those times when the overtakes not on because the roads too narrow (Unless your Vito) and you can afford to relax some what.
I certainly enjoyed yesterday in the RS3 just as much as the RS4 day out and other than the bad back I now have from a sudden dip in the road which jarred me I'm left thinking i can't wait to get back to do the Lakes loop again.
Fuel wise I used a similar amount over a 200 mile journey yesterday, I think there was £10-15 worth of fuel difference thats all and considering I had a clearer quicker run on my mid week RS4 test.
Which is better?
Well it's horses for courses, If anyone was thinking of a move to the RS4 i'd say it'd have to be as they needed more space but wanted too keep a fast capable car.
There's little point changing other than that, The RS3 was a hoot to drive yesterday and thankfully (for those that know what i'm talking about here) Everyones brakes seemed to be in tip top order!

What stopped the RS3 having magnetic suspension available like the regular A3 was the wider front track and unique suspension setup that the RS3 has; the standard system couldn't be made to fit economically enough for what was supposed to be a highly limited number of cars and a model which wasn't planned into the product line from day 1.What I'd like to see on the new RS3 but don't think it'll get is DRC, This was really where the two cars end up night and day and allow you too switch between a harder setting sports mode and comfort to soak up bumps.

The situation will be completely different for the next RS3. The base car is more capable, so less radical departure will be needed to make the RS model. Numbers are also unlikely to be limited, meaning that they could recoup any set-up costs over a wider sales base. And given the success of the 8P RS3 an 8V model is a nailed-on certainty in my book, so they will have had that in mind from much earlier in the product cycle.
So all in all, I think it is highly likely that the next RS3 will have magnetic damping as an option.

Good honest comparison again Steve, its the same as the RS3 and my S5 which has the adjustable suspension and sports rear diff options which make all the difference, Jeckyl and Hyde at the push of a button.

Steve, I know you are a big fella and all that but this is an RS4 we are talking about, if you don't start jumping around I will have to come down and apply some lipstick on you with Toby's assistance. Roy and Neil will pop down with some sausage or steak!
Jokes apart, good purchase fella and please populate some pictures. I have seen a few and they are very well built and even more good-looking as an estate than a lot of sport cars out there (badly built BMW's).

I'm looking at booking it in prior to delivery if possible with Miglior, I've opted out of the Lifeshine and squeezed so much out of the deal they had no money to even throw it in.
