Ouch, how residuals have fallen. My B7 on 15k miles a year on a 4 year PCP bearing in mind it was a year old and 16k on the clock so in effect on a 5 year old car was £18500 on a car £50k when new. Now you can only get £20k on a £60k motor in 4 years.

this is why for me the B8 RS4 smells like a lemon, the price an average one will be at 4 years old will be the same price as a 6-7 year old B7...

Well thats my deposit paid, Paperwork all signed and my RS3 replacement looking like a September delivery date.
The dealer played ball after a couple of days negotiation and i managed £31500 for the RS3 based on a September valuation which is way above what it'll actually book at.
I know it's Audi salesman speak but he claimed they are dropping at £800 a month at the minute!

Got yourself a great deal... I'll hang on for the next RS3 where it's a bit easier on the mileage and tax band. Once we're done with our kitchen refurb too..
Love the RS4 no doubt.. but I think I'd rather go for a Macan..

What are your thoughts if Audi got rid of the V8 and opt for what BMW doing with the new M3?
Green and more economical..?

RS3's or RS4's?

The RS3.
Only matters if your selling to a dealer lets be honest.
It could be with the new A3/S3 platform and the fact there's RS3's about to drop out of warranty it'd have an effect on prices...... Salesman speak though?
Personally I think residuals have been very strong on the 3 up to now.
When mines goes in September i have owned the car 2 years and lost 5k.... So on a new car that's almost unheard of!

Salesman guff like you say. Amazing they all have them up on the forecourts for £32+K for the ones they have if they were losing / had lost so much money. The warranty thing is another hoax subject like it was on the RS4.

what a load of tosh, £800 a month.... even with the new RS3 around the corner, a used one at 25-30k is a much nicer investment than a new at 50k, that price is seriously mental!

Prices are dropping theres now two on Audi sub £30k and the cars once they reach 3 year old will cost the dealer for a warranty.

They are quite high mileage though (40k one of them) and on the flip side there a 2012 11k mile example at £37k!
I dont think we need to worry too much just yet

I'm sure there is Daytona however they are not great spec and high miles (near 40K!) for the one at Cambridge. Curiously both Misano as well but the one at Harrogate has a 4 year warranty so depreciation due to lack of warranty is a bit false on that one? Also 2011 early 2012 cars.
If the dealer was correct that is £9600 depreciation a year at this present point when most have only depreciated that in 2-3 years, that's why mathematically it makes absolutely zero sense. It's almost like saying their depreciation has only been about £300 per month and that depreciation has now increased by 167% as soon as end of warranty is in sight.
I'm sure depreciation curve will increase on these but not that much! I'd be interested to see how much they put MacD's car up for when they get it, I'm guessing north of £35k to make a minimum 15% margin.

What i was trying to point out is there are cars below £30k barrier this week for the first time on Audi UK irrespective of milage and spec, low milage cars will become harder to find as time goes on and will command a higher price,Spec wise the RS3 was not offered with a great deal of options the only one that really affects price imo is Buckets.

Don't forget my car won't be traded in until September, by then he reckoned i'd be looking at a sub 28k trade in figure opposed to the £31500 I managed.
i've noticed a few sub 30k cars appearing now on autotrader.
They must be due a drop anyway as residuals have been so good for so long?
I'll keep you guys informed though as i'll get further valuations nearer the time.

It's an "on paper" value what the car is worth at the time of doing the deal irrespective of what its going to be worth when you actually do the trade in, which in your case is 6 months imo Steve you've done very well as you know there's theres big discounts to be had on the RS4 so in effect it gives them lots of leeway for them to do their paperwork .The way to look at what your car is worth when you px is the cost to change figure i.e. the difference between yours and theirs.I pay cash for my cars so I'm not interested in the way the dealer is manipulating his paperwork, every deal is different its the end figure thats important.
