It doesn't even look good under the bonnet either

Yep, shame this is lost with the new aluminium engine.

A copy of the results may have been a good idea to post
http://www.zeperfs.c...ch5559-5869.htm

Those track results are really meaningless, in my opinion. Between 0.5 and 2 seconds - who cares? We aren't actually running a Grand Prix in our cars so a few tenths is, literally, nothing.

The Focus RS may well be a 'more engaging' car to drive at speed, but as I've said elsewhere these cars aren't track day specials - they're everyday cars. I did over 500 miles in mine this week and I know which car I'd rather be in for that!

The focus RS tricked out AWD system is definitely impressive and is the main reason the track times are so good - it's simply better at distributing power.
However, as mentioned, if the RS3's had come with Michelin Cup 2 tyres like the focus, they'd easily have done a couple seconds better a lap and I suspect that change aline would completely upset the leaderboards

You would have spent 500 miles vomiting over the dash.......

That being said, it may have improved the aesthetics.

Engaging it may be given a suitable clear stretch of road....

Who would drive it like that on a daily basis ? Fine if you live in the country, but in built up areas where I suspect most of us frequent, it's of little use.

Clutch pedal....no thanks

Four cylinder engine.....no ta

Crappy dash..... double no thanks

If it's that good then I'm surprised more people haven't gone and ordered one.

For me the RS3 is the best all rounder, looks great outside/inside and under the bonnet.

After a 180 mile cruise down the M6 I came of 10 miles early and went the interesting way home in Dynamic. The RS3 is truely a Jekyl and Hyde car!

True......but it still looks better under the bonnet, even with the new cover.

It looks better than the Focus's wheelie bin inspired cover. But it is immensely uninspiring. Why do more and more car companies like sticking huge lumps of plastic under the bonnet? I can understand with Ford as they probably had loads spare going from the dash board and general interior but Audi? Seriously?

Basically its to discourage/stop DIY enthusiasts and non franchised garages from 'fettling' with their car... lucky more manufacturers are not going the same way Alfa did with the 4C.

The plastic covers are because engines that are especially using direct injection have a mess of pipework and wiring over the engine block, which doesn't look all that nice. The painted red engine in the pre Fl RS3 is no longer like that under the cover

Wheres 135king? I want to know if he got the Type R or if he has ruined all credibility he had and bought a turbo charged wheelie bin with an overheating rear diff?

My mate has just bought a new Focus RS.

He put it up on his 4 post to have a nosey. He was horrified to find the propshaft and all four drive shafts red rusty.Just bare metal no paint at all.

After complaining to the dealer their answer was as follows.Word for word as he recorded it.

Mr ******. Do you understand cars? No I just drive them. Well let me explain. You know when you wash your car and the brake discs go rusty. Yes.

When you first apply the brakes the rust is removed .It`s just the same with the propshaft and driveshafts.Nothing to worry about sir.

Catalunya Red ,Heated rear window,Power steering,Wireless (with FM),Seat belts,Servo assisted brakes.Pneumatic tyres. Disc brakes.

This is another example why I am right in condemning to death the Focus RS. Its a joke of a car.

I was behind one a few days ago

It sits too high, the wheels are way to small ,the gap between tyre and wheel arch to big,

At least the old one had a half decent look and looked the part ( sort of) the new one looks like a half arsed job,

I dont normally put other makes down but this looks absolute dog poo !
