Small update before the 27th @ SRR

 

Timings, session is booked for 09:00 (I'll be there ready and waiting hopefully), attending;

and I'm gonna add a 5th, I can't see there being an issue if you turn up with us Chungster, if you want?

Obviously, everyone can stick their own dyno sheets up once done and I have prepared a non-impressive but stylish chart to show them all together.

 

Here is the format (all figures are currently set at default, so will be interesting when we pop in our dyno results)

 

point to note:

-the LEFT hand BLUE data is Audi's book figure for the RS3, followed by ours in colour (orange, white and 3x nardo)

 

-the RIGHT hand BLUE data is MTM's advertised data, with my dyno result on it's left.

So your figures matched MTM's figures exactly or did you match your figures to their advertised figures?

Hi Monopole,

Spoke to Charlie he knows I'm with ur group hence he gave me the 10am slot, based on 10-15mins per car for each Dyno run. I will run last in the group which isn't a prob. Will be there for 9am also to see all the runs

Hey Wayne, do you recall a short while back we were discussing the MTM box and whether it can be moved between cars easily or whether it will be gimped or even possibly bricked when moved without MTM's extortionate price intervention...?

I have been told (no names mentioned, and no, not me!!), that moving a used MTM box from "the sellers RS3" did not work on "the buyers RS3"!!!!

Thankfully, we had already discussed doing this at SRR and mutually agreed not to based on the "unknowns" within the box and whether everything would work out fine, there you go, we had already convinced each other similar to this anyway 😂



Point being to all.. tread carefully when buying used MTM M-Cantronic for the RS3, it is unlikely to work and MTM themselves charge circa 400 notes, to transfer these used, between cars! Just passing on some advice I have recently received ;-)

I didn't ask Wayne as the conversation was about how it didn't work oh his car, but we aren't quite sure if that was specific to just his car or anything to do with the box side of things, like we were discussing previously and swapping them over. However, it's prudent to think twice about sourcing a 2nd hand MTM box without taking into consideration you may have to pass some hard earned to MTM to ensure it is fully compatible with your car and doesn't give some spurious results. Some added input from what I know though, I had to give my VIN to QST prior to going up there, so one wonders if it reads the VIN from the ECU and behaves..... accordingly............................  ????

Cant wait for this now as I've been to santa pod and got times but they are not as good as i hoped! Best was a 12.7 at 105MPH... Had a 13.3 too!  Could not believe it! Maybe the decats are making me run less power or something lol. Ill be the only one running 350bhp. 

 

Might be a stupid question, but did you use Launch Control, as those times and terminal trap speed are pretty low.

 

Have you got the timing slip you can put up?

So i used launch control all 4 times but the first two has the traction all the way off and the last two only had it in sport. 

 

So the first one i did i felt like i had loads of turbo lag. Then running again i think i was slipping on gear changes (losing grip). When i had it in sport it seemed ti grip that little bit better. 

 

These are in order from the bottom up, Always the right side. Can post separate slips if wanted.

 

 

 

Times on the bottom slip (first go) was a Golf R stage 2 (408bhp) He wanted to see whats faster and i really thought i was going to get the times he got on show there.

What fuel were you running?
