Yep exactly the same with mine, bloody annoying, I first noticed it as it wouldn't pop and bang on downshifts, so I cycled through the settings and it was fine. I might just take off the vacuum for the valves because its always in dynamic anyway.

+1 happens with my car also. frustrating

I now seem what you are getting at. Mine has the std exhaust so it's not as noticeable, and will only pop and fart in dynamic mode.

However.........

Sports exhaust has arrived at the dealer, and is ready to be fitted!! Car being booked in tomorrow!!!!

Talk to the dealer regarding this and get some definately off them that you can use against them if similar faults occur or are present

Not sure what you're saying Pat. Are you saying that it should pop and fart at all times, not just in dynamic mode?

I have no idea other than it seems that it needs identifying exactly what should and shouldn't happen regarding the valve, mode and the settings or if it's a glitch...you guys are the 1st to own these cars so if things are operating rather oddly is it worth finding out if it's just how it is or if there is an issue

As you've had the std exhaust on and now changing to the sports I'm dead keen to know what you notice in great detail 😄 Maybe some before and after recording might be cool ?

The question in first place what's the difference between sport vs default. It seems that nobody really can say what the differences are except that the sport sounds louder? I have looked and listen to both systems and they look alike on top but what is different inside is the question? I think they simply has less damping materials inside the sportsystem and that the exhaust valve is the same and tube diameter the same and so on.

Will be interesting to know how sports feels over std ? Best I can imagine without a bespoke re-map to suit is slightly more free revving at top end as more gases are released
It may well accommodate future mapping and staged upgrades better than the std one if it breathes better......who knows

The standard exhaust deffo does pops and crackles in dynamic mode. I'm pretty certain the RS3 I tried at Audi sportcase had a standard exhaust because even with the windows down the exhaust in dynamic mode wasn't that loud at all but it popped, banged and crackled on the downshifts and when you let off the accelerator. It's standard procedure really when you get a new exhaust fitted such as a decat/straight trough, after few miles, the exhaust note changes and you often hear what I'm describing with the RS3...

So it you have the standard exhaust after say 1000 miles, not only the car eases up a bit but you should hear more enough of the exhaust in dynamic mode main difference would be hearing more pops, crackles. Would never opt the standard exhaust though because it's just simply not loud enough for me. I need to be able to hear my exhaust when in the car, and the std exhaust does not provide that.

So what we need is a VCDS coding that will allow pops and crackles in individual and auto as well, rather than just in dynamic.

Best thing to do Woodstock is plug VCDS in and have a nosey around at the different modules.

If you are in you tube app click on share (the arrow pointing to the right) it'll bring up a sub menu at the bottom it'll have copy link, click on that.....

Then when you come on here just paste it into a reply.

I will do, as I said in a different post, I'm still a novice on Vcds, so a little unsure of things. I'll not change anything until I know what I'm doing, and how to recover from a wrong entry:-(

I know it's a diesel A5 but it'll make you appreciate your own when you get it back.
Every time my MK1's been in I've had a diesel and my god how good does it feel to get back in the RS

You going to record your std one 1st the. Do same with the new one ?
Hope it lives up to expectation buddy, if it's breathing better at one end then it needs more of the good stuff going in at t'other
