Is this a joke ? You need to check the parts serial numbers ( they are all listed on this forum somewhere ), then you 'll know if they have actually replaced anything, mine has been totally silent since the fix.

Brake fix, done ! At last

They replaced discs, calipers and pads. To be honest it hasn't done it since I made the video but I had to record it to make sure it wasn't just me hearing things!!
Wonder if it was dust or something causing the squeal again??

My original fix was just callipers and pads and when done is used to squeal if the car was braking on an incline and also did it a few times when it was damp at slow speeds....I have since had the discs replaced and has not squealed since.
The thing that worries me is, this problem came to light over last winter and the fix was not tested in winter conditions...I've got a funny feeling come winter (although today made me think it was winter! Grrr!) this problem will rear it's ugly head again!
I hope you are wrong, The German guys havent reported the squeal returning have they?

Stefano....are you sure they have replaced the discs?, doe the part number on the brake disc carrier end in 'B'?
Yep 100% I've looked through the paperwork and double checked.
Sounds daft but it's not doing it anymore, not nearly as bad anyway. Worries me if it is on and off depending on the weather though, that's not a permanent fix to me!

I wonder if they did the bedding in procedure correctly? Were your wheels thick with dust when you got it back or are you a customer who allows Audi to wash your car? I only ask as mine were thick and the tech said they need an aggressive bedding in procedure.

i wouldn't have even expected the bedding in to produce noise
Very strange as mine "touch wood" are spot on albeit maybe a little soft for my liking. There's certainly no sign of any noise.

When I had my discs replaced they said they had not driven the car (which they had not) because I did not leave enough fuel in (a little trick I always try and do before going to dealers lol) so mine have not been bedded in by the dealer....I have since gone for a drive late on Sunday over the moors and did some bedding in driving as recommended by Pagid.
No squeals here!
Sorry to be pedantic Stefano, but have you actually looked at your brake carriers to see if part number ends in 'B'?, yes it might be on your paperwork but does not mean the dosey buggers have fitted them lol.
Just to echo this my dealer tried to replace the discs with the 'older' style ones before i pointed out the error so it is possible.... unless you've seen the part number on the disc of course.

If they had bedded them in properly they shouldn't make that noise. If they had not been bedded in then there is a chance they may.

Just picked my car up this afternoon from Leeds Audi after having the brake fix done and software update 39el.
So far so good ... went for a test drive afterwards and everything felt fine, no odd noises and just a little more pedal travel than before but I'll soon get used to that. Everything looks correct with the discs etc., they have the "B" as the last letter of the part number.
I have to say that the customer service at Leeds Audi was 5 star, very impressed . I was greeted in the car park by name on arrival, checked in and out within a few minutes and then escorted to a courtesy car and shown a few controls that were different to my RS3 (a new A4 diesel S-line with electronic handbrake). On pickup I was again greeted on arrival, in and out in a few minutes and given a Leeds Audi goody bag of sweets and key rings

I did notice the brake dust was very silvery compared to the dark grey of the old pads.
Has anyone else noticed the colour of the new brake dust ?

I get greeted by name at Preston..... but probably because they see that "pain in the arse" coming lol
It wasnt the colour so much that i'd noticed, more the fact there appears to be way more of it now. Even short journeys accumulate brake dust now
Anyone know why we are all experiencing more pedal travel? Is it just part of the bedding in process?
I always remember new brakes having a stiffer pedal.

Mine has gone in today for this "surgical procedure"
Looking forward (is that the right word?!) to seeing how they are thereafter...
Usually predal travel is less and stiffer on new brakes, unless they adjust something in relation to the pedal too?
Is the braking more progressive after the change, I find the pedal can be a little "snatchy" at the moment and all or nothing. Progressive pedal feel would be preferable, hopefully can modulate them better that way!

Yep, I'm finding the brakes a little more progressive with a better feel, and less noisy as you pull to a complete stop - so far so good

Yeah 100% new discs, It's been quite dry today and no noise from the brakes fingers crossed..

Got mine back same day, and yes longer pedal travel, but in my mind easier to modulate. Only done 50 miles on them, but pretty good so far and the discs are nice n'shiny and the holes in the discs aren't clogged with dust for now...
All good!

Brake fix, what brake fix?
After hearing that the TT-RS had the same problem with noisy brakes, which Audi fixed, I knew it would only be a matter of time before a fix was developed for the RS3. The noise is quite unacceptable.
However, after first complaining about this a year ago, and being told that the noise would go away by itself, i have learned about the problem. Put simply, as soon as the brakes reach operating temperature, the noise stops. Go above 50 mph and brake hard a couple of times and presto!
Low speed driving around town re-introduces it.
Wondering whether to get my brakes done too.

Definitely get it done if the squeals there!
New pads, discs and calipers so thats a bonus when it comes to service time too.
i suffered horrendous squeal in low speed traffic which made it an embarrassment to drive in town !

It should have been done by Preston dbm, there is a procedure for the tech to follow as part of the TSB.
