I've been considering these for a while now, seems other's have as well.
List price is £175 but most places give a 10% discount, but you can find them cheaper!

I'm not a consider'er I'm a do'er
Have them on mine and they are great!, even think Vito has a source for cheeper prices too!
The only reason i looked at these was because of Miltek putting the warning on their's. I did check out all the info on Scorpions website and they never say in print that these's are not for road use.
Having said that you have now thrown the spanner in saying that they do have the label on them.
Have you personally seen it, did you buy Scorpion, or is this info from someone else?
I'm cautious on such things
I too may have a contact for a better price, i have been working on this for some time and the possibility of a Half system!
Still working out the crease's

Ah the old 'is a decat pipe legal debate' once again. I think this is useful information here:
Reading through the legislation below I'd say the Milltek pipe is labelled because of this regulation, this seems to say it would be illegal for them to sell the decat pipe without such a label.
I read this as, if you want to be certain of legality EC marked/approved sports cats would be needed, and of course that you've told your insurer. But as said before people tell me they have told their insurer and have been covered. I can confirm Direct Line and Admiral (and all their sub companies like Bell etc) will not allow the decat pipe but will happily cover sports cats and full system exhausts.
I'm not making any judgement on what people decide to do so here is the information is here for you to make your own decision:
http://www.legislati...gulation/8/made
8.—(1) No person shall supply a non-type approved converter or device unless—
(a)it is clearly marked or labelled—
(i)in the case of a device which is a particulate filter, “ILLEGAL TO SUPPLY FOR VEHICLES APPROVED TO ECREGULATION 715/2007”; and
(ii)otherwise, “ILLEGAL TO SUPPLY FOR TYPE-APPROVED VEHICLES FIRST USED ON OR AFTER 1/3/01”; and
It would be interesting to see what the emmission levels are with the 2nd cat in place and then not. Theoretically all you should so is pay the higher road tax if it falls into the next emmissions banding but personally I don't thnk they do much if at all anything because there are no sensors anywhere near them. The design looks almost looks like an after thought to try and reduce the emmissions further.

Mark have you ever bought a sport cat for one of your cars ? If yes, was it worth in terms of sound difference ?
Then reading your post you say that admiral will not allow a cat bypass, are you insured with them and enquired about it ? Because I am.
Hi Vito, I'm not insured with them but I asked them for a quote at renewal last month when I was considering the full stage II kit for my car. They were clear, no cover for decat pipe, sports cats/full system all fine and the prices were almost identical for both but for the standard RS3 DL are still way cheaper.
I've used sports cats on the Scooby Milltek and the Westfield's, they all sounded great to me. The Decat pipe is louder every time. My Scooby (340bhp) had the sports cats and my mates (350bhp) had the decat option with the same ECUTek map - his was louder no denying that. I will try to dig out some footage I think I still have. Both Westfield's were so loud they could make your ears bleed. At the RS4 ride and drive day there was an RS3 with a resonated Milltek and it sounded good on start up, much deeper than my standard car but still easy to live with according to the owner. If I was doing this I'd go with a resonated turbo back Milltek with sports cats.
Your choice of exhaust brand/back box will also make a lot of difference. With cars like the Megane the likes of Scorpion and Blue Flame were louder than resonated Milltek systems - the . I remember one Remus equipped car that was also massively loud! It all depends what you want. The standard RS3 system passes track day noise tests (it's 77db at 4500rpm with the S button off for reference) with ease and that is good for me.
This is useful video to experience the difference between resonated and non-resonated albeit on an S5.
doesn't come cheap the full system though, I think I might scrap the idea of a bypass at least until the insurance is due for renewal, DAMN !!!
Yep the full system is pricey. If it's just the extra noise you want what about a cat back system? I'm sure I've seen the Scorpion cat back for around £700 - sure it's more than the decat pipes but a lot cheaper than a full system and you won't upset any Audi techs or your insurance company with that.
Good video of that in action here, sounds good - from 50s on for the action!
Thanks Mark, big decision now, but I 'll still ring admiral tomorrow and see what they say.

This is what it says on the ad :
Photo showing the difference between the standard factory-fit Audi RS3 exhaust (top-right) and Milltek Sport's latest stainless steel performance exhaust system (bottom-left). The OEM exhaust has two secondary catalysts (the RS3 has four catalysts: two primary and two secondary) and the Milltek system removes the secondary catalysts for better throttle response, more aggressive sound and maximum performance increase. Note that the Milltek system is available with resonated centre section which has two centre silencers in the middle of the system or, non-resonated centre section which has just two straight-through pipes in the centre (part shown furthest bottom-left).

It doesn't make sense, It clearly states that the cats are removed and the system is a decat system, so why Admiral will cover it but not cover just the bypass pipes ?

Modify the original pipes, that's the solution, I am gonna speak to my mate who is a mechanic and see what he says.
Who are you insured with Steve?
A good point Vito, especially as the Scorpion full system comes with a choice of secondary sports cats or decat pipe. I notice the Milltek full systems are not EC approved (only the cat back systems are on their website) and therefore might well be a problem although I thought sports cats were again an option - it's just that they add quite a bit to the price so they all list them separately. The system in your picture has the decat pipes shown but I'm fairly sure secondary sports cats are also available.

I have exactly the same, Admiral multicar policy, tomorrow I am going to ring them and find out, but they refused to cover Mark. Maybe they 'll do it for existing customers only ?
