Thanx guys for your input appreciate it ... engines at race developments now and its getting sorted.... does need a new block but instead gonna add lining... better and stronger anyway... also engine will be fully built up now so top and bottom end...new pistons and rods also... jbs did have a chance of fixing the issue... after 4 visits they said "they dnt know what else to do, drive the car hard and bed the pistons in "
Such wa@#@%@

If you have this in writing from them? (I hope you do) then write to them and explain where you have got to so far (putting right what you paid them to do, including incurred costs... ) offer them the opportunity to take it from this point... if they decline and you have some form of contract on which the original deal was done go legal and do it quickly.

If you get it sorted without going down the route of offering them the chance to inspect / rectify the chances of sucessfully pursuing them for damages are significantly reduced I would think.  I can understand that you just want to get it back on the road but you need to understand the consequences if you are still hoping to go after them later - it kind of closes all sorts of doors if the problem has gone away.

All the best with whatever you decide mate.

It all depends on what you have got in writing mate - you may be open to go ahead in other directions or you may be fooked. If I was you I would get an initial opinion in a suitably qualified and experianced solicitor before pushing any buttons.  I mean, what kind of cost are we talking about here if you are looking at a new block and all of the associated work - I am thinking £15 - 20k.  Spending £300 on initial advice would seem to be a sensible first option.

This is good advice- print off every email, text message, what’s app whatever you have (even if you just screen shot what you have) in writing.... all the history that led to you pressing the button and go and take some legal advice it may not enable you to recover your losses but you might protect yourself from increasing the cost to you.

The other problem you have got, as I understand it, is that you have got a car with a lot of after market work done on it by various providers. JBL could point the finger at MRC after the event and vice versa. If you want to be able to preserve integrity of evidence I can't see how you do it after the event if everything is sorted.

We don't know every detail so any advice here is really in the wind - imo you need to get professional legal advice based on everything you have or just take it on the chin.

And one thing I would say is that you should provide your solicitor (if that is the way you go) with everything you have even if it is disadvantageous to your case.  You shouldn't try to treat your Brief as the judge!

It does need a new block but the better option Is for me to sleeve it instead...
Now my chain of thought here is... taking it legally from now would mean to give them a chance to fix it which also means months of fighting first and then eventually them fixing it. Them fixing it means them fooking it up again...I've not had the car 6 months do i really want to wait another 6 more?... nah...
I'd rather it be fixed and also upgraded now at my costs and then force my hand at jbs... surely they dnt wanna lose their reputation now... because with this much of a mess up they will lose their rep....

IDK but from my experience (albeit in other fields) if you pay for it and the problem has gone away you are likely to be stuffed.  £20k hit vs a angry bad face review - I am sorry but they will take the down thumb every time. Don't forget companies get bad reviews from people seeking discounts so the power of that one has gone away.

They put the rings in the piston upside down... that just shows no workmanship and knowledge... after I get it out there which it probably is... who would wanna take their car to them???? I mean I may not do anythin at all and just be happy with my car returned and fixed...

Fair play to you Buch......it’s a bitter pill to swallow

If it were me I’d be driving my Renault Master straight into the JBS waiting area......

Am I right in thinking they managed to win AD awards too

So sad to see it has gone this way for you Buch, got to applaud your attitude in just wanting your car back on the road. It's nice to see the guys here giving you lots of support (it's a great forum and should provide some solace with what you're going through).
The legal road is always a painful one. Totally unrelated but we had a business associate who lied, cheated and deceived around a third of our client base. Then set up a mile down the road and is still spreading all sorts of crap. She befriended a lawyer too so got free legal support. Not saying this is what you'll come up against with jbs but it's not an easy road to go down. Up to you whether you choose to pursue that route.

I really hope your tearing down the highway soon in your pride and joy buddy!
