Pads out and I’m gonna try something

Note the edge of the pads catching on the disc lip

Tapper them?

Yes mate

I’ve done all 8 with a slight chamfer.

Will see tomorrow if it makes a difference.

That’s Interesting Sean, good spot!

it would make sense from an acoustic perspective, if the non-worn lip of the disk rubbing on the pad, would be at 90 degrees to the pad face, it’s a large disk so imagine if anything was catching on the outer edge, will be more likely to cause a harmonic = sqweek....than on the inner side towards the hub, less leverage and less room for harmonics to be generated.

Maybe you are on to something,
Interesting to know, keep us updated

Get rid of the discs and go for big ass Reyland or Alcon

Am waiting on Brian to report on his 380 mm Discs......

Well after a bit longer wait than expected the Reyland discs have turned up. I have had them made to my spec.....380mm x 34mm, two piece floating with alloy bells, directional cooling vanes and curved grooves.

First impression is that they look good, only disappointment is that they are slightly heavier (11.5kg v 10.6kg) than the same size Alcons I had on my PFL car. I plan to fit them this weekend if the weather behaves itself. The other discs in the pictures are my old Alcons for comparison.

My Ferodo pads from Trevor have started squealing like hell the last day or two!!

I’ve ordered some Ferodo premier pads to see if they are any better.

Never had any noise from the DS on my PFL with wavy discs

Can’t understand why the FL is quiet for a while then starts squealing.

Mine were silent initially but over the past couple of days a low speed squeal has appeared.
Brakes are stronger than standard pads but they do create a fair bit of dust!

I think my issue is the discs.

Gonna be changing to the Alcons as soon as I get chance.

I’ll just be running them until discs and pads are worn.

The shims come separately , not fitted from Trevor.Without them they will squeal.

In that case I don’t have any shims?
Are the shims extra from Trevor?

Free with the pads.

Didn’t fit on my FDS1664 ones toooo tight.

Had to wait until worn a bit, although in my case they made bugger all difference.
