Update on our RS3

I agree with the previous comment that the oil loss is not normal. On my R with a 2.0 I never topped it up between oil changes over the 3 years. Surely if it’s all down to bypassing the rings and being burn the modern ecu would chuck up a fault?

Let’s hope a new garage means a new prospective and they find something no oe has thought of.

It’s fairly common for 2 litre TFSI consume oil, my 8p S3 did and my Mk7 Golf R. Not so much the 2.5 by all accounts. Mine RS3 used oil until I went for it was changed for 10w40. Not used a drop since it got changed last month. ECU won’t detect a fault for oil consumption.

Let's hope so. They are going to ignore everything Worthing have done and start from fresh with it.Let’s hope a new garage means a new prospective and they find something no oe has thought of.

I would assume that Audi have already tried checking the ecu for a fault. Although not too sure if it would bring a fault up.

It’s really good they are going to start from fresh. Unless you have a pressure drop that the ecu can recognise I can’t see it would know there’s an oil leak anywhere. I rebuild Land Rovers and even on old school tech it can be really hard to see where dripping oil is coming from. Let’s hope they get a grip and it’s sorted soon.

Could you not take it to an independent garage just to investigate the work not actually fix just to see what they come up with ?

I'm not too sure it will ever be sorted whilst Audi are involved. I had Nottingham's service manager ask me how much more time I want to chuck at it just to get it fixed...!!!!I’m so sorry this has happened again to you guys I can’t wait for it all to be over because you will enjoy the car so much.

The issue has now been escalated to both heads of business at each centre to see where we go from here as Nottingham have completely let me down! Hopefully I should be meeting them in the next couple of weeks.
My next suggestion is for them to send it to an independent garage but not sure if this will be the route they go down willingly.

Just go's to show at Audi unless they can plug a laptop in there slumped.☹
All they seen to want or be able to do is change the oil, filters, plugs, brake discs & pads.
Gone are the days of real hands on mechanics who would strip/rebuild our cars.

Hi Daniie,
I can't believe I'm seeing this & this is still on going, in addition you've now been let down by yet another Audi dealer!
As Dell rightly pointed out above, all they seem interested / capable of doing is changing oil, filers, plugs & break parts.
I know its not the route you really want to take, but I think it's time to seriously consider look for an independent Audi specialist to finally put this issue to bed once & for all. I know that trying to get Audi to foot the bill for that is going to be a mission in itself, but how many more dealers & visits are you prepared through in a hope they can sort it out?

If taking the independent route was an option then I would take that route it's not because I don't want to go down that route it's more because I haven't got the finances to send it to an independent for them to take over. Although they won't charge as much as Audi do hourly rates are still quite high and with not knowing how long it will take them to diagnose and fix the repair bill could go into the thousands

If you find a good independent they will be a lot quicker than Audi at tracing any fault. I know things can be expensive I’ve had my fair share of issues in the last year. I would demand it be sent to an independent to trace the fault at Audi’s expense since they are what can only be described as incompetent in this case.

I have told Audi UK that if Nottingham are not comfortable or confident in fixing it then they need to start looking for an independent for it to go to. This is why the heads of business from both centres are now getting involved as they have the power to send it there. So hopefully if I can keep it strong this will be the way it goes at Audi's cost.If you find a good independent they will be a lot quicker than Audi at tracing any fault. Audi really are rubbish at treating the customer as king.
No wonder so many people look elsewhere.

It’s an utterly bonkers situation.

Exact reason I wouldn't buy anything from Audi above the RS3. When paying 80-90-100k you should expect service to match. Going to Porsche feels like a real step up in customer service and experience despite the RS cars being similar money.
Current cars: Audi RS3 8V and BMW M235i convertible.
Gone but not forgotten: BMW M135i, Audi S3 8P, Gen 2 Mini Cooper JCW, Gen 2 Mini Cooper S, Alfa Romeo Spider V6, Mk5 Golf R32, Honda Civic Type R FN2, Ford Focus ST, Honda Civic Type R EP3.

So who knows what's going to happen now!
Not what we wanted to here after the weekend we've had with the car!

I'm really sorry to hear that Audi UK have closed your case & effectively left you with a car that still has a fault! - Same on you Audi UK.
If you don't mind me asking, what are your plans for the car now Daniie?
