I have been running on my winter wheels now for a month or so and have to say the vibration through the wheels is minimal to non existent at 80 or indeed any speed but more so at 80 which is where the sensation was felt previously with my rotors with summer tyres so I suspect a lot is to do with the rotors and them being soft unless winter tyres by their construction and pliability reduce what vibration there is.
I did originally address this with my supplying dealer suggesting the rotors were soft wheels like the B5 RS4 had and sure enough, it was dismissed out of hand and they weren't prepared to entertain anything under warranty suggesting it was 'wear and tear'. Funny because I've probably hit the same potholes with the Sportecs and there is no issue with them with the same profile tyre.

When my summer wheels are back on I'm into the dealers for a new wheel then, got fobbed off last time.

The critical part of mine is was it was reported within 6 months and 6000 miles, which is the warranty limit on buckles, even though its now 16 months old and has covered 7500 miles. I suspect there is an issue with these wheels on the RS, as Danny has just had a whole set replaced as well!

I did the same Oli within 3000 miles and was told to jog on because the dealer couldn't be bothered to put the case to Audi because they said it would be rejected as wear and tear. I pointed out it wasn't the first time an RS model had soft wheels, still not interested

I finally got my car into Worthing Audi, to get my wheel replaced under warranty. Earlier on in the day I switched to F1's as well. On my drive back in the torrential rain and storm, the vibration seemed to be gone , only taken Audi 11 months to sort this!!! And can't really comment on the tyres, but ride does seem smoother, will get out today for a proper test.

Hi,
Does anyone know what technology the Bentley garage in Pulborough are using to balance wheels/tyres for the RS3s that have a steering vibration in the 70/80/90 mph range?
I assume they have a Hunter Rolling Road Force Balancing Machine so they're able to more accurately add weights to trim out the centre of mass if it's shitfed from dead centre?
From this thread (and others) I'm reading that once the brake disc/control arm upgrades have been done then the likelihood is that the wheels are buckled (i.e. pot hole or kerb stikes) and that Bentley have the required equipment (and more importantly the skill) to trim this out where other wheel balancing centres can't because their equipment/skill is not good enough.
I'm also puzzled why anyone would want to trim out a buckled wheel unless it's a case of economics?
Does anyone have any experience in getting the Audi wheels straightened?

Do Bentley has the equipment that balance the wheels on the car?

I also had vibration issues and took the car to Derby Audi, after a bit of faffing they ended up taking the car to Bentley in Leicester to do 'special' balancing (I saw the receipt from Bentley and it cost around £225), but I don't know if it was road force balancing or on car balancing.
It did seem to sort it out though !

Thanks for taking an interest and replying.
It's more by the 3 threads I've read on this forum rather than any practical experience. People have been taking cars with vibrations to other places that claim to balance/align wheels/tyres but comments are saying this hasn't solved their vibration problems. However, Audi UK have recommended that local dealers (in the South) send RS3s to Bentley in Pulborough who appear (from these forums) to have the capability of solving the problem ... or ... recommending that the wheels needs to be replaced which Audi have done of some occasions (again, according to these forums) which has then solved the problem. The latter suggesting that there are limits to what can be trimmed out when a wheel is buckled.
It therefore follows (in my mind) that Bentley in Pulborough have "something" that enables them to do a better job on trimming out a wheel balance problem than other places that claim to do wheel balancing and that can only be down to one of two things. They either have better equipment or they are better skilled at using standard equipment than other places.
I'm not saying that nobody else is equipped to solve a problem and balance a wheel but according to RS3 owners on these forums, some have had their vibration issues resolved after Audi UK have recommended their local dealer send the car to Benley in Pulborough who seem to be able to wave a magic wand and resolve their problem.
Having wheels/tyres set up by someone who has Hunter Rolling Road Force Balancing equipment seems to be the how tricky vibration issues are getting sorted for cars from Audi and other manufacturers hence wondering if Benley in Pulborough are using this to solve Audi RS3 vibration issues.
