No foam on either the RO1 or RO2

This has happened on the front of one of mine too. Is this an issue with the Pirelli's on these cars? Are they more susceptible to damage due to the narrower wall?

The dealers are aware of a potential issue with R01 Pirellis....
Really?, how so and what is the issue?

The dealer told him it was to do with a deformation issue on R01's.

But I'm glad I junked my set.
Plus they could easily just say you whacked the tyre in a pothole.

The Pirelli RO1's and the RO2's for that matter are no longer an option on the Audi website for tyre quotes. Just Continental RO2. The only Pirelli's are the AO spec which is also Audi fitment but different in some way to the RO1\2 etc.
I wonder if the narrow side wall is a known issue then. The RO2 pictures that Woodstock posted seem to show a less slanted sidewall that the RO1's. Looks more straight, but with a rim protector sticking out almost at right angles if you will.
I'm torn between going RO2, or just moving away like T800 has, and getting the Goodyears which have far better tyre lable specs. Plus I had the AS2's on my R32 and they lasted forever.
Wodstock how are you finding the RO2's, am I right about the sidewall or is it much like the RO1 and optical illusion on the pic?

The sidewalls are just different and the rim protector is mahosive! (which is no bad thing). On the road, I think they are quieter; thus far not found anyt real difference in grip,. but its early days.

Well I had a full set of Pirelli P Zero RO2 tyres fitted. 255\30 and the 235\35's.
They are significantly quieter that the RO1's I had before. They are also noticeably more comfortable on bumps too. The steering feel is more precise too. (Tyre pressures 39 front, 35 rear as per the OEM spec label.)
