Before front

After front

Before rear

After rear

Interestingly we noticed a couple of things.......
1) Under seal at the front drivers side had become soft and 'runny' so it had dripped onto other moving components and splashed onto inside of the alloy
2) Front 255 tyres were wearing heavier on the 2 shoulders almost like the tyres were under inflated (they weren't)
3) drivers rear tyre had water in it and the tyre guy hadn't seen one with that much in it for a good while.....

I'm gonna run them for a while and then report good/bad etc.....

Interesting I had a load of water in one of my fronts! Looks like a bad fill station when the factory first fitted them.Tyres now fitted....

Another point to note..
The Tyres themselves look 'Chunkier' in the sidewalls compared to the Pirelli's (similar look to the MPSS i had on the MK1)
The pirelli's have that angled sidewall 'look' making them 'seem' skinnier..............

He had a BMW X6 in a few weeks back with a similar tyre and he said getting the foam / glue off was a right pain as was trying to get the repair glue to bond to it.

I had one of my fronts repaired at KF and it was a doddle to get the foam off. There is nothing fancy smancy about itWe were chatting as he was fitting the tyres and he did mention that the fronts (Pirelli) would be next to impossible to repair should I have got a puncture, because of the 'special' 'foam' bonded to the inside of them.......

My take on this is in respect of the front 255's vs 235's is....
Won't the wider tyre at the front induce increased tramlining?
Theorectically the increased grip at the front will provide a better turn in, but the dynamics will not be as adjustable imo. Having the thinner 235 on the front may mean less frontend grip, however, it should also (because of this) make the rear end more active via Haldex. That should make the car a bit more adjustable.
I have 235's all round, that apart from giving me flexibility around wheel swapping (fronts to rears etc) for wear management, I can't say I'm not disatisfied with the levels of grip.
For me... I'd rather the Torque shifting happen more promptly to try and get the backend more active.
Others people's opinions / preferences will undoubtedly differ.
I'll probably bash on MPSS when I swap out.

A few thoughts on the Goodyears

Noise
I've noticed increased road noise but only on rough road surfaces, on smooth Tarmac they are more or less the same as the Pirelli.....
Grip
Difficult to say as we are in Wales and I won't be pushing the car whilst the speed limiter is installed next to me........
However in the brief period I've been out in it on my own it does seem to 'grip' more in the twisty bits

I had a bizarre trait with the Pirelli tyres of when going over speed humps the traction control light would flicker and cut the power, this issue is now gone completely

It's weird about the road noise as when I put these on the TT,then the GTD they made both cars instantly quieter, however as I said above on the 3 they seem to amplify bad road surfaces, strange.

Considering the fact that 3db is doubling (or halving) the noise, a 4db difference is significant and should be very noticeable.
I'm looking for a quieter set next time.

I've just ordered new RO2's

Please post up the tyre spec and pictures when you are able. I would like to see if the 'stretched look' side wall profile is retained with RO2's.
