What rides better on the front, I have a spare set of 235/35/19s, and I hate the pirrellis that the car comes with but I do like the wider front tire, anyone experienced any differences and what would be the best option? To run the same all round or run the staggered fitment and keep the pirrellis

Remember if you currently run 255 front and 235 rear and swap to 235 all round or you switch to 255/235 the ECS system's adaption should be changed.

I have not tried 235 all round so can't comment on that aspect, I run MPSS 255/235 and they work well for me

Yeah a think the tyres size works well, it's just the pirrellis I don't like, I had them on my previous RS3 n hated them, but just seems to waste these ones when they haven't been used, have u tried the cupsports before

No but the CS are on my list for next time, they are 30% more expensive than my current MPSS not sure they are 30% better however 😀

How do you change the ECS system? I am currently on 235/35 all round...

It will be a setting in VCDS assuming it is not one that Audi have locked out, I know the dealers can do it for sure.

If you are referring to the ECS system then it is the computer that looks after the stability control and a large portion of the info it uses to calculate when it is all going **** up (loosing traction/skidding etc) is the rpm of each wheel.

Now with different sized tyres front and rear and the aspect ratios not fully matched there is a speed difference when all is going well, so the ECS computer needs to know what speed differential is when all is OK so it knows when it isn't ... does that make sense? Hence the adaption needs to be changed when swapping 235 all round for the 255/235 combo.

Are you sure about this? I`ve had 225/235    235/235   235/255   .All worked well with no warning lights.

I was thinking that.....

Had 255's on the mark 1 with no issues

The stability control will be monitoring the ABS rings to see what's doing what.

All I will say is the 255/235 combo has more bite / grip at the front and works well as opposed to my 8.5J 235/35 all round

Absolutly, if the rolling radius matches then all OK. If not the ESC needs to "know".

I understand that but the rolling radius of 225   235   255  are all different.

Not necessarily, it depends on the aspect ratio to tyre width.

I have seen it at my dealer when they were checking for the ESC cutting in, they told me to the 2 settings and I did say the settings nay he locked down.

I'm pretty sure the car will measure the rolling radius on each Axle set /four corners anyway and adjust to suit.

The tyre circumference difference from 235 to 255 is 36.1mm

I'm the same as Neil have swapped from 235 to 255 / 255 to 235 (winters) both cars and never have any issues with warning lights / VCDS errors at all................
