If it's at Audi make sure they change the filter too. Although they usually say it's not a serviceable part.

If an indie they should do it as a matter of course.

Few weeks later and I've had the clutch fault reoccur on my car. Found out a bit more information on it...

October 2015 I was getting "00448 haldex clutch pump V181" fault. The haldex oil was replaced by Audi end of October 2015 after the scan and this fault never returned back until September 2016. I then had the haldex oil and filter changed in Sept 2016 and I have not seen this same fault reoccur so I'm pretty adamant that if v181 fault occurs then it's due an oil and filter change.

If the fault says "01155 clutch" then it's due to the pump starting to fail as the filter can get clogged up and burn the pump out. Maybe in my case the pump was starting to fail originally as it was only 11 months ago when the filter was changed for the first time so it's just prolonged it.

Anyway I've ordered a filter kit and pump and will get the oil replaced again to hopefully solve this one. I'm not suffering from traction issues all the time though like some others, just seem to get this fault code crop up recently

Yup sounds just like mine before it went completely Jay. It was on and off for over a year before it went FUBAR. Replace the pump and you'll be fine.

you had the same clutch code as me too? I'm not expecting to feel much difference as like I say it's not all that bad at the minute to be fair but I can imagine when it's failed completely it may be a different story.

I had a few codes over the period before it failed fully. When it goes completely the fronts light up at the slightest provocation. I was driving down the motorway at a steady 60 with the traction light flashing at me constantly until I took my foot off the accelerator. Pulling out from junctions was like playing Russian roulette between the wheel spin, hitting the rev limiter and the power being cut.

This started happening on mine as well, was giving it some shove in low gears on empty roads and all of a sudden, car feels like it's on ice, it was quite fun tbh, and the sound was interesting as well, as if it was stuck in gear but no where near hitting the rev limiter but of course not good overall. This was yesterday, driving today and didn't have this problem at all, and really tried to on a few occasions but never lost traction.

She's arrived today, £210 delivered for the pair. Slight anti climax on the physical size of it though, I wanted a PUMP not a miniature version. Scanned the car out of curiosity and no faults still on the car so in two minds to hold out with replacing it just yet or just change it and forget about it. Also performed the output tests on the 4WD and no obvious issues occurred.

Jay
My take on things like this is to get it done straight away, it’s done then and you aren’t going to be caught out with it eventually failing over a cold icy winter.

That was the plan, so I will stick to my guns then. Next Friday it's getting done.

Are you fitting it yourself? If so the filter will most likely not want to come out on its own and if so connect to vcds and run the 4wd test/pump (sorry can't remember which option it is) and it will push the filter out for you.

My timing is impeccable. So pulled out the fuel station and just joining a carriageway and every time I literally dabbed the throttle it just had a crazy traction flashing episode (albeit I didn't notice any traction issues) and then I couldn't simulate it again so it's definitely degrading. Which is the reassurance I need

Fingers crossed for the same but if you have to run the pump on vcds is still a dead easy job.
