So in your opinion red stuff pads on the front and rear make a much better option, or if wanting to spend more go for the R8 setup?

Yes for fast road use but if you'll need something else to drop in the fronts for a track day

What would you recommend for track? Stick to Audi disks though?

I'm no expert on track focused pads but would probably be inclined to go for Ferodo DS2500. I've had experience with the Ds range before and was always very impressed!
Before the Reds I was running EBC yellow stuff which are ok and will cope with mild track use, certainly more fade resistant than the red and a vast improvement over stock. Ultimately I wasn't a huge fan as for the road they were very noisy

I've found the yellows you can hear them brushing against the discs with long or hard breaking although think I need new discs too

That's a trait of the yellow stuff due to the compound.. They're very noisy for the road

That's what I've been doing for 2-years now and no worries: 8P RS3 with STD front discs and Redstuff and MTEC rear discs (since January 2015) and Redstuff: Mattjj82 had my Yellowstuff to evaluate and I agree with his evaluation

And if doing the rears then you'll need to undertake the same procedure and careful application of the handbrake (talking 8P here) will be beneficial and reduce the distance over which you'll need for the rears to be fully bedded - most of the braking on the fronts of course

I changed the rears to red stuff today, just need to carry out the bedding in procedure for the rears now.
So same procedure as the fronts just need to apply the handbrake as well as application of the fronts?

Yes mate straight onto stock discs and surprisingly they really are that much better, oem pads were not looking great when they came off, very pitted and still had well over half there life left.

Similar but not so much Jay just sufficient to clean-up the disc otherwise it takes some time/miles due to the majority of braking on the front

Where did you get pads from? How much were they? Did you get pad sensor?

Are the pads the same on the 8V as the 8P?

Rears I imagine yes, as they use the same discs.
Fronts no. The MK2 has different callipers and has 4 pads in each calliper.

Thanks, so does the 8V have the terrible pads or is this still an unknown? I pick mine up soon so I was considering changing the pads out straight away.

Whilst the braking is massively improved on the 8v (as Paul says the 8 pots have 4 pads in each) some members have reported that the pads look very similar in their construction. Tbh I'm not sure who have changed to reds though but I'm sure they'll be a marked improvement.
Be aware that if the change the pads and then have a brake issue your dealer may get funny and void the warranty due to pad change. I suppose the get around would be to drop the Audi pads back in if there was an issue
When you take delivery would be the time to change with the discs being relatively untouched
Food for thought...

Yes this was my intention but I hear you on the warranty implications.  Do EBC do a Redstuff pad for the 8V RS3 then?
