Hey all - result! Macclesfield Audi phoned back and sold me a set for £346. all in.

They tell me there are only three sets left so if you want a good deal get in there quick. It's too good to miss!

Good result Red14.............

At that price it's worth buying a spare set for any long term MK1 owners..........

Just ordered myself a set of front discs as I was yet to get some. Luckily I caught this post before they had all gone. Great service by Andrew, should be with me on Monday!

If you've got plenty of meat left then skimming is worth it and it's what I plan to do with the pair I just removed as they'll go again in the future. It's difficult to find places that do it these days..
As our discs are semi floating i'm not sure if that causes an issue for some places.
Good to know MRC do it though 👍

Garage View Garage

Had my B7 RS4 discs skimmed which were floating, £100 for the pair but whoever does it needs a jig set up to keep them level / in place, can't be done on hub.

What pads do you run? And is shuddering always there or just there when braking a few times from speed? If it's latter it could be you need jet wash the disks down to remove brake deposit build up on disks which block the drilled holes.

read this thread about the discs and pads, got some great help from Paul on here, for the pads and rear discs, cheers mate.

I rang Audi macclesfield about the front discs and they say the old price has gone back up 35%discount malarkey so they're at £526

i found https://fr-rtuning-s...-.html?page=all  £216.39 per front disc (£432.78 for the front pair) with free delivery UK and they state Audi OEM ttrs/RS3

just thought id help everyone out with some information, can someone just clarify the item on the link is correct first just encase :)

part number for these discs are : 8P0615301B

TTRS parts don't fit.

The offset is different . ( In simple terms the rotor hat is a different depth)

Bit of a strange advert, they seem to list both the TTRS part number (8J) and RS3 part number (8P) together, perhaps because they are the same price?

Just make sure you get the 8P version!

just rang up https://fr-rtuning-s...-.html?page=all (from bradford)  and said its 2 different disc codes and they don't fit each other, he says when ordering type your reg and which one you want, the price are still the same, so (£432.78 for the front pair) is looking like the best price for discs so far.

i've emailed Andrew Nieurzyla from macclesfield Audi to see what they can do and try to put the initial price found early back up of £346

id like to know what these are bought for before profit, its mental how much Audi are earning on the discs if you ring up any main dealer and just ask for discs, without doing this kind of research.

First off, forget OEM pads, go to EBC there's plenty here on those, only available from the USA though.

I had both sets of discs at one time, it's a noticeable difference in "spider / tophat" height and it occurred to me that there surely must be some simple way to make the more common TTRS item fit the RS3 perhaps by a shim?

As mentioned the offset is different, the TTRS is shallower or when the disc is flat the hub landing is lower than the RS3 part, so that brings the disc further OUT from the hub and conversely the (Standard) wheel IN, closer towards the brake mechanism - I think.

So if you got and fitted the TTRS part I would think you'd have to fit different offset wheels to suit??

Perhaps one of the technical bods here can offer a solution? After all, what else were you thinking about doing this weekend?

:)

For me its just easier to stick with original parts, than consider a shim or spacer that might introduce a potential source of vibration or wobble.

As for weekend, I'll be installing a £330k machine. :)

Part of the RS ownership I'm afraid
OEM discs will never be 'cheap'
Don't look at the Tarox / Alcon alternative discs then, your eyes would be watering
