Coming out of London tonight I happened apon an 8v looked very nice my Mk1 does everything I want it to if Audi could just put my mind at rest and fix/sore engine rattle I wouldn't even contemplate upgrading but they can't so it's seriusoly maybe time to take that step back into the world debt paid both cars n mortgage off beginning of the year so it's been nice having extra pocket money.
But I suppose an RS is a worthy cause for owing money

If makes you feel any better I've just been over a year on the property chain and bought the Mrs a fiesta zetec S diesel and bought myself the RS within the same year. So my outgoing debts excluding bills are around £1400 so I'd say go for it especially if the finance deals are around the £600 mark 🏻

I presume you still have warranty on the car then? Maybe try another dealer as some on here have had success at some and not others.
If you love the car and don't want the additional outlay required to get an 8V then why not consider going to a independent specialist? I'm sure someone like MRC Tuning would be able to sort it out. I have little to no faith, as do many others, with Audi when it comes to fault rectification.

Ah so just a small amount of low mileage pristine examples then rather than all of the Mk1's vs all of the Mk2's? What would happen if you had an almost identical Mk1 for sale and a Mk2 eg both similar miles but one a few years older than the other?

TX.

MK1 for me, terminator x; no question.

Me and mine think the MK1 a much nicer place to sit especially with the extended leather added last year, and a much nicer on-the-road shape, and sooo much more anonimity

And let's be honest here' in every day motoring the pace of both is sooo bloody good in both acceleration and braking that mere mortal drivers like most if not all of us contributors/RS3 drivers will hardly notice the difference on UK give-and-take roads with mom-and-dad and/or OAP (don't bet on 'em all being the same, of course...  ) drivers anyway

And get some scrawny kid with a battered Golf  who just doesn't give a toss here's betting you'd let him go and not risk the challenge....

Each to their own but I'd strongly advise you to take a test drive! I test drove a brand new S3 sportback with DSG earlier this year and whilst it was a good car there was some thing missing for me and I wasn't convinced.
The difference between the the S3 and RS is night and day.. I knew I just had to have he RS after test driving even it was the older model

Agreed, love the MK1 interior and as I said previous, those buckets really do do it for me!
I'm looking to add some of the options my car is missing and did think about the extended leather pack. Sounds like it worth it!
Where would you advise getting it from?

As we've already said a well looked after high spec MK1 will be very desirable in the future so makes sense to add the missing options now for personal pleasure and future value! 👍

I know I really should pop in, but a few mates have them and their experiences are only positive. Although the RS3 is a fantastic car and probably the best car I have ever owned, I am trading in to avoid losing further money and I would be happier for it to go to a loving owner who can cherish it as much as I did. It doesnt make sense, hanging on to it further for it only to depreciate.

Darling_buds on eBay sells the extended eBay sets. I went for the arms, knee triangles and arm rest with silver stitching in November.

Like I said, each to their own and its personal choice but I wouldn't look at it from a depreciation/losing further money point of view. Youve been through the worse part and the user MK1 price will begin to bottom out. whilst residuals are good on the S3 the amount you'll lose on that will be larger than what you'll now lose on your RS...
You'll never win on cars, stating the obvious I know, so just go for whatever gives the most enjoyment!

True, but when I come to trade in the S3 I'll have better residuals than my RS which is why im swapping it, Plus theres no RS3 Saloon or RS4 out at the moment

I've seen the sun visors on eBay recently. If I recall they and the grab handles were never a UK option.

Danny has both of them but I believe they are his own stock and unavailable to purchase as he bought these items from Germany.

Yes all genuine however these can be easily retrofitted as I installed these on my old S3. You'll need a user on Audi sport called robina3 who builds the looms (using genuine parts) and then it's a case of DIY.

They do look nice,

but he charges a premium for the leather bits , and when your selling the car they dont add much if anything to the resale price,,,,,,,,,,,

thats why most people resell them on here when they sell their car !
