JamesBaby - this may sound like a stupid question, but after starting the car have you cycled the modes round back to dynamic? :)

I have decats with sports exhaust and mine pops and bangs on down shifts but is muted until you hit around 4000rpm then it's loud 😂

Hi. Yes I played with the settings quite a bit too. Sounds lovely in dynamic. Just no pop and bangs like I was hoping.

May go Dynamic or Milltek Full.

I'm not sure if my decats are working right. The sound of the car seems muted somewhat until at high load. Then I can hear a difference.

The sound is nice.
However as much as I tried I couldn't get pops and bangs. Normally I could hear them on spirited downshifts but now I can't.

Anyone offer any comments if this is common? I have oem exhaust. Will going to RS sports Exhaust help?

Yes I am and also getting it up to temp etc.

Maybe it needs bedding in and coking up a bit.

I've gone back to stock and removed the miltek decat pipes. I've done a review on the miltek decats a few months ago and mentioned how it sounded muted. Looks like a lot of you feel the same way.
It only really comes alive after 4000rpm.

I guess it comes down to each car behaving slightly differently to others. Some cars pop/crackle and everything is amplified whereas others sound dull at lower rpm with minimal pops/bangs.

I'm pretty sure they are louder at all times, they're just ridiculously louder when over 4k

Maybe the differences are to do with having the oem or sports exhaust with decats.

I do want to hear the purr of the engine more. So I'm trying to decide whether to go Milltek cat back or Sports Exhaust. Does anyone have experience of the Milltek cat back? Res or non res?

Can I ask did you have the decats on a sports exhaust system or on a standard system ? I am thinking of doing this but not if it reduces the low rpm noises. Interesting as logic would suggest it would be louder throughout the rev range.

I have Milltek non res catback with oem second cats and it sounds and feels enough. If you want more you can do one of the different mods to force the flaps to stay open/closed or you just have it in drive select and its open up approx 4000 rpm and at idle there is a deep tone in it.

I've heard the milltek cat back is awful. The sports exhaust seems to be a popular option

Sports exhaust was great + decat even better imho. It is different lower down the rev range but still great albeit now above 4k it is proper mental. Going round a large roundabout today, had a load of people stood still on the other side waiting to see what was coming!
