I forgot to mention in my previous post that Audi's email to my dealer said that the reason was that they could possibly seize the engines if pushed too hard on a test drive, and that there are 2 parts required to be replaced.

Id booked the day off work tomorrow just for the test drive, but can't now which has p*ssed me right off.
You may be ok by next week Kelza to still get a test drive, but obviously that's down to the dealer getting it sorted by then which as we know could be another week.

Audi have had my car a week for a service think it's going to take a few weeks for all the demo cars to have engine parts sent from Germany and replaced.

I wonder how many people will be considering a switch given this delay and the build week lottery.
Mk 1 owners I guess this is a bit deja vu ...

I'm seriously thinking of goin' 911; all of this problematic 8V RS3 poo is wearing me down as its just De ja bl**dy vou for most of us 8P guys
Fancied a 911 ever since I'd a side-window-steering 930 for a day; and the thought of a modern 911 is now starting to jingle me wotsits way more than an 8V RS3; and unlike an RS7 a 911 will fit the garage nicely...
Cayman GTS or GT4 is the future, 911's aren't the best in the range anymore.

I can see the appeal of a 911 John and have driven and considered a few. On the plus side is the compact format, immense traction and the security of 4WD on the right models. On the downside though:
1. you'll be less likely to be let out of junctions and more likely to get vandalised
2. you've said before that you value crisp turn-in more highly than noise. Well they sound like washing machines which is ok but their turn in is surprisingly poor. Just not enough weight over the front makes the front dampers/springs relatively hard = you've got to nurse them and feel them into a corner, they don't bite the corner properly. Once into the bend then they are fabulous and are unbeatable on the way out. Ok they are sharp and darty at the front end, but this rapid response isn't the same as grip. Turn the wheel and they instantly respond but then you find they are all shout and no trousers and the car just isn't turned into the bend properly.
Cars with small footprint, big turn-in grip and all-weather traction, apart from (arguably) an RS3, is a very short list. As you don't seem that bothered about the noise a car makes then a Golf R would tick the boxes. A hot Renault with a set of winter tyres maybe. As P_G says, a Cayman will be better in a lot of ways than a 911, but won't have the 4WD-ness; again with a set of winter tyres? Of keep the RS3 for the snow? GT-R too big, R8 too big. TTRS? Not famed for great turn-in and many will say have a hairdresser image, though I've never driven one (I don't fit) and I'm sure plenty here will have an opinion. New Focus thing maybe but too early to tell. New Honda thing looks like it was designed by a 9 year old but dynamically may fit the bill, again for 10 months of the year. It's boring but: Golf R?
In my garage: RS3 8V Sepang blue, standard wheels and trim, SS seats in black/grey with grey headlining, comfort and sound, dynamic pack, dipping door mirror, no farting pack,

Yep, you're right, Yorrick; yesterday developed badly (an RS3copilot issue) but having had a good sleep today is looking sooo much better...
Best go say sorry to RED14 (silencer removal) now...

I've currently got Doncaster Audi's demonstrator. No mention of a recall. Standard dealer demo spec, Grey (Not Nardo) with grey superseats. Awesome car though!

Perhaps they've not read the email or replaced the parts by now, but I'm popping into my dealers later, so will ask to see the email.
