You guys have too much faith in Audi!
Having seen the number of dumb ass option arrangements they have come up with, having A3 illuminated sills on an RS3 fits their pattern perfectly.

I don't have too much faith in Audi I've just got something called common sense Well heres the genuine S3 ones available from Huntingdon Audi so i presume there will be RS3 ones available for the new RS3 when it becomes available .

I do hope people who order them do get RS3... Audi UK said they accessories area on the configurator are dealer fit items and there is no part number for illuminated RS3 sills and the part number of the parts they said would be fitted after destroying the RS3 sills will be the part number of the A3 ones. If the did illuminated sills like the r8 and others they would be on the normal option list not accessories... Personally I'm not taking the risk... As it sounds Audi can't get a straight answer and won't put it in writing!!
Exactly - look up the part number (8V4071300) and it's the same for A3/S3/RS3 when you add it on the configurator, and then do some further searching and it's pretty clear its A3 only under that part number.
For example here, the description is 'A3 logo', but it does mention A3/S3/RS3 model compatibility https://shops.audi.c...ed-8v4071300-9#
8V0071300A is the S3 carbon illuminated sills mentioned above, and 8V0071300B are the quattro ones - note these are the 3dr versions. 8V4071300 and 8V4071300B are the A3/quattro versions for the Sportback, there is no S3 Sportback version that I can find (which would be 8V4071300A).
Another note is the interesting/poor/misleading wording of he brochure, within the Comfort and Sound pack is this statement;
- Interior lighting package β Anti-glare lighting for the passenger compartment comprising door sill and footwell lighting at the front as well as illuminated inside door openers, vanity mirrors and illuminated cup holders, 2 reading lights each at the front and rear, LED interior ambient lighting and active door reflectors
I suspect this refers to the lights in the bottom of the doors, which actually I would call puddle lights rather sill lights (but then that probably conflicts with the 'traditional' wing mirror or exterior handle puddle light naming convention!).
Note the above is also present in the A3/S3 brochure as option QQ4 and is worded identically. So anyone with an 8V S3 and the Interior lighting package would be able to confirm my suspicion of it referring to the under door puddle lights, and not actually sill illumination. I had a quick search and there are threads which seem to suggest it is the under door lights...

So in summary, all of this tells me it's only going to say A3 or quattro, not RS3, plus, having found they are battery operated with a magnetic switch, it's a pretty poor solution they are not hardwired!
It will be interesting to see if they add for example 8V4071300C as an RS3 Sportback carbon illuminated sill - if they did it looks like quite a few of us would buy them (including me)! <take note Audi!!

They haven't released the car yet so obviously the part numbers for the illuminated sills won't be available until after release you don't have to be a genius to work that out.
