What you getting done to the engine pat ?

Excuse me if I don't quote the technical details of components but engine is having a full strip down and rebuild....possibly a rebore to accept o/s Pistons but in any event even lower compression pistons and rods are being replaced....Not sure about head re-working.
Turbo is one that is currently being used in limited numbers by a Scandinavian race team
Exhaust manifold is biggest new component that is getting made as a one off
Lot of work planned to keep the heat down and cool the charge....std stuff here
Hoping to be able to dial in several maps as needed..eg, commute, mad, really mad and f'in ludicrous lol the latter using methanol maybe I'm told
Gearbox re working and mapping plus new heavier clutches
New Haldex that's in car controllable heavily weighted to the rear as we hoping to get either 10 or 10.5" rear wheels on It.....we may need a purpose built prop

Pat I really enjoy reading your updates and seeing how far the build has gone ,when I saw the engine out I thought to myself they've taken it out to paint the shell so it won't be long before we see something that resembles a car ,little did I know it was the just the start of another lengthy stage of the build ,this is gonna be one special car when finished.

Cheers mate, it is extreme and hard to know how things are viewed by others.....it's turned into something way bigger than ever intended. I'll probably not dare drive it as intended due to all he hard work and man hours that have gone into it

On the top map and meth we are aiming for min 750bhp (poss up to 800).......that doesn't just mean we are chasing numbers as that's not that hard...Andy is trying to build a useable driveable motor with plenty of torque rather than these mad power cars that can only be used full on and not driven....The pressure is on him really not me

Biggest worry all along is component fail......prop and driveshafts, gearbox and Haldex.....oh and a piston making an appearance...This is why the rebore is uncertain (we could squeeze another 200cc approx) but once bored if there's a failure then the block is scrapped

I will also be there and can't wait to see it on the 13th!

If it's anything to go by I stumbled upon an old build thread of a R36 Passat that's running 1100BHP through a 4Motion system. Really impressive build but it has the advantage of the sturdy V6, those things were insane :o

Been a bit busy mate tbh. Nothing else to report at present....I called in on Wednesday for my weekly chat. Andy is getting the underside rubbed down ready for the protective coating prior to painting the underneath
I was hoping the manifold and turbo would be present to view next Saturday but no such luck yet on delivery

Not really a lot for you to see really other than a brutal execution of a once was lovely car.....at least having seen it at total strip the build thread will have more meaning

Wednesday night went to the monthly car meet that the workshop manger Pete puts on at local pub for all vags to attend lots of old golfs beetles Audis and seats.....enjoyed that went in the old girl Leon.....that's had a lot done to it in last few months....PSI have built me a fantastic car in that I can't believe how well it drives and what fun it is

Happy days. It'd be really nice to see the turbo for sure, just to get my hopes up and dream for now. Glad to see that you still have a motor you can enjoy too. Will you be bringing that on Saturday?

I'm hoping to be in the mental Beemer but it's in for major service and some paint on rear bumper at BMW so might not be ready by Saturday

What time you thinking of meeting up.......??

Ade at PSI who does all the parts said some members had been on the phone

Yeah I've been asking about some bits. Mainly bolts but we got talking about de cat pipes too and he said they could be fitted. So if I had to id happily go down early and let them crack of. Saves us all waiting for two hours ect? I'm easy as to times though, I'll ask what time they want me for the parts and let you know?
Crazy BM would be good to see!
