Well, floor pan and inner rear arches are now done and primed and ready for texture coat and then paint.....it's taken a hell of a lot of work and attention to detail to get to this point... Next job I'm told is to fit front wings properly and make fibre glass inner wing liners to give it full protection and the right look

Now the underside is primed it does give some idea as to how the width and stance of the car will look

Keep at it - reckon next years GTI Festival wont know what hits it, assuming that it wont quite be ready for October 17th ?

There is still a massive amount to do on the bodywork at least a couple months of time that can be allocated to it I reckon....all the glass will need to come out too before paint

The detailing of all the running gear, the engine strip possible rebore, total re build, painting, all the gearbox rebuild and upgrade etc

Thats before anything starts to get put back onto the car

Hopefully all the interior will be done as well but im having fun with that and quality concerns

I could rabbit on for ever.....exciting stuff !!

How good do those back arches look though ?? !!!...definately a bit o me those bad uns.....just need some big deep rims to fill them up

Looks like it's going to be a monster Pat. Amazing attention to detail.

I do like Vossen wheels Roy but they will have to be very deep dished so that the arch is filled and gives that big look. I've always liked just a fairly simple unfussy very open 5 or 6 spoke whereby attention is on the discs calipers and hubs more so than the wheels .....Andy reckons they will be at least 10.5" and most likely be 20s (I want 21s but that's just me been me)
No decision made on anything yet.....might even tool up for centre locks and have them machined for the offset needed, which as yet is unknown

I've got him on looking at wire hiding in the engine bay and moving a few bits so it becomes a head scratcher when viewed....yeh that for the "amazing attention to detail" compliment cos that's what he is doing
Take the filler cap idea I had......it's taken him hours and hours and still needs some more.....me I just saw the TT filler cap and said "I want that one" (Andy little Britain lol)

Lots of time and effort so far, lots more to go... The end result should be a little bit epic though! Hopefully one day I will see it in the metal...

What wheels would you guys go for then ??

Bear in mind that they will be very wide and deep and will need to look quite dished...be good to see what comes up from everyone ?

Few ideas from early on in the build.....1st one might intrigue a few of you as an option for your std rotors

Good option to the std wheel for the OEM look

I like the black 5 spoke that's in between the yellow coilovers.....

I like those on the slammed A4 - they are Vossen I think from their web site ?

Agree with you on your approach Pat - deep dish but not too "fancy" so dont take away from the important aspects of your build .... I definitely think rotors with a real deep dish would look nice but my quick google search didnt find any ...

I've seen deep dished rotors on cars but I have to say I'm not a fan of them but I do like the open rotors (1st pic)

Mmmm wasn't aware those were Vossen on the A4

Any pics of any favourites anyone...post them up

These are my ultimate alloy, I think they would look amazing on your build Pat and will do the job you want in showing off your brakes!

For me its gotta be a set of HRE wheels one design pictured here on Cuppa's S5 which is another epic build which I've seen at different shows ,lots of different designs to choose from.

I do like a bit of dish! My Scirocco has Savannahs for summer, but they will be too small for you Pat. I do not know if there is something similar but bigger?

However I do like the black ones you mention, and will be looking at item 1 on your list for my RS3 lol.

See a perfect wheel for me is something that's got thick arms, I hate the way things have gone with the tiny thin tyres and thin spokes on rims now. Can't beat a set of Borbets type A's or Rota P45R's :)
