If you think I'm paying £90 from the dealer for the same oil I can pick up from my local TPS for £30 then you're sadly mistaken.

I'll still get them to service the car, but save £60 in the process, for exactly the same service with the same oil as you would get.

Frankly I've better things to be doing with £60 than lining Audi's pockets thanks.

;)

Why don't you service the car yourself and save even more money😂

This sounds similar to grocery shopping for Nescafé in wait rose sainsburys Aldi or home bargains
Same item different price.
I wasn't aware you could supply your own oil to Audi when they carrying out a service, or any other part for that matter.... Never occurred to me

I just can't wait take mine in to Stoke Or Crewe Audi for a service when it's all done lol

Muzza, I have it on good authority from the supplier of Quantum and from someone in Audi that it is not so you are welcome to believe what you will

There is a difference though veneeringman which is why pay double the price for Audi to supply the exact same product? I could understand if you are using a completely different oil but it is the exact same stuff you can buy retail. If anything Audi make more on it than the retailers do.

You're bang on there P_G, obviously some people are so bought up in the "premium" brand they don't have a problem being bent over, not me sorry lol

There's sure is some real snobbery on this forum I have to say, I'm quite taken back that somehow I'm being looked down on because I suggested a way to get dealer servicing cheaper, same happened when I pointed out to people that Audi will price match any VAT registered garage within 15 miles on like for like servicing and labour or the slating I took because I bought my immaculate, fully loaded, warrantied till 2018 RS3 from outwith the dealer network (how dare I, it must be a write off!! lol)

Tell you what guys, I'll sleep better at night knowing come service time I've saved substantial amounts of cash for exactly the same service as you receive and I'm sure somehow (although it baffles me) you will sleep better at night knowing you aren't a cheapskate like that Muzza character from the forum....

There's nowt as q u e e r as folk as the old saying goes

Well me for one will remember that in the future
I bet it's the same for BMW M3 oil........I've always had theirs fitted and bought same, coz I assumed that was that... Unquestioned.
Yeh I have service pack but I've bought enough over 4 years and it's not warranty reasons either as mine was modified from new

Had RS3 serviced soon as I bought it purely to keep the book bang on......I thought then how bloody dear the oil was...good points you make muzza

You could just pay a reasonable price for the oil and the servicing by not taking it to Audi in the first place....

Looking at my service invoice from last year they used Castrol Edge Professional which is expensive but only charged £42 plus vat for 6.5ltrs.

As Muzza says it pays to barter and some dealers do discount.

Ive just been reading some things you've posted on another well known forum and it seems to me you ask questions [and ask the same questions on here]and when you don't get the answer you want or someone criticises something  you say you have a tantrum.Your car wasn't "immaculate"because as soon as you got it you were winging [on different forums and social media ] about several issues with it including the  stitching on the Suede and when Audi refused to replace under warranty you throw another tantrum slagging off the same Audi that you're gonna take you're own oil for them to service your car.Do you go out for a meal and take you're own drink ?.

You're home made tracker its laughable, telling every potential thief where it is in the car and including a photo and contact details that were online  for days until you erased them.I cba to write anymore I've wasted enough of my valuable time.

You could just pay a reasonable price for the oil and the servicing by not taking it to Audi in the first place....

But then you wouldn't have the haloed service stamp / history most car buyers look for and present another scenario to dealers not to do warranty work on your car should anything that has been done by another garage be attributable to a fault you have and then try and rectify using warranty. Giving them the exact same oil they use but has cost you 50+% less has no effect but to save some money in your pocket.

But hey, for those that are happy to let their dealers charge as much on consumables that it their choice and mine is to allow them the profit they charge on labour only.

Here's another irony for you, I can go to Audi parts department and order a set of wiper blades or indeed any other part at consumer prices or I can now walk next door to TPS and get the exact same part at trade because I have elected to walk another 20 yards rather than someone from Audi do it. Which would you do? If Audi because it has Audi above the door fair play to you; if TPS you might have a 10 second walk in the cold at this time of year but then you have more money in you pocket. It's all about choice, why this has become such a debate is beyond me

That "tantrum" as you put it on AUK's FB page over the failing stitching on the setting wheel, did exactly what it was designed to do as it happens.   It made Audi UK step up and realise I'd not be fobbed off with some cock and bull about a £600 optional steering wheel only having 6 months warranty.    For your information (although I'm wondering why I'm bothering tbh) the lot is being replaced under warranty it's on order.     If that's what it takes, a winge on facebook, then so be it.   Shouldnt try and fob people off in the first place.

Clearly you and I are just not going to agree on anything, so I'll do us both a favour and pretend you don't exist, save yourself the wear on your keyboard and do the same, hows that sound?

Apparently Audi and TPS have joined together to offer an innovative way of looking after you and your car.You can get any thing  you need for your car  from TPS {cheap}then book it in at Audi for them to fit ,get free cups of coffee in the service reception before taking advantage of a free loan car whilst yours is being serviced then return to collect your car have another free cup of coffee and you pay a far reduced rate and a fully stamped service book and a cast iron warranty, they are calling it Taking the Pi$$,{TPS for short}tumblr_led93qqqKR1qb44tf.gif
