Sad times it is ,I just don't understand Audi fitting weak propshafts and bolts ,does this happen to the other RS models ,ok the ttrs but this should not be happening total joke tbh ,so I,m sure this will be fixed by Audi ...

Why give a car LC if the parts on the car cannot handle the power.

Does anyone know if Audi changed the part number for the propshaft components following these problems? Assuming they have, then it throws up two interesting points;

Firstly, would it be prudent to swap the original parts for the newer ones following a remap?

And secondly, if there is no problem with the original parts, (as Audi will no doubt claim), then why have they been replaced/uprated. Could be a useful bargaining position if they won't play ball due to the remap. Uprated parts suggests there is an existing problem, regardless of any modifications you might have made. Might get you the propshaft and bolts replaced FOC if nothing else.

Oh, and I'd be interested to see pictures of the underside of the car, including the failed components. I'm guessing Audi will give you the usual video link after inspection.

Mike your a gentleman. This is good info for me as it clearly states on this link that the failure has happened on several vehicles

"We have put together this upgrade to ensure that if actively tracking / launching your TTRS you will not snap the factory hardware. Under extreme load we have since this failure happen on several vehicles!!"

I will be ordering on of these today.

Viraje I cannot get the pics on here PM me your enail address and i will send them asap, there is a 2" gap between the prop shaft and the transfer box + you can clearly see the damage to the exhaust & heat shield

I will find out about the video link.

What I have read on the TTRS is that the bolts snap first, and that smashes the end of the prop.... It's the bolts that are the problem.

These sound like a must have if you plan on mapping.  I assume there is absolutely no difference between the 2 cars so will fit perfectly?

On the first pic you can see the black rubber attached to the prop shaft mine has munched the inside of that it is shredded + by the look of it on that picture is has dented the exhaust a little bit the same as mine.

I am going to ask if the LC can be dissabled

I did not realise the RS4's & RS6's have LC i wish i had known this when i had the RS6 off Audi

Viraje is going to post the pics of mine on here for you to look at.

No problem. It's a shame that it's at your expensive, but this kind of info is really helpful to the rest of us. The day after my warranty runs out, I shall be fitting the uprated propshaft bolts. The day after that I'll be remapping it. So this could very well have saved me a fair penny. Just hope it doesn't end up costing you one.

what happens when you remap it with no warranty and god forbid that something happens to it  then?

at least with a warranty you might have a 50/50 chance Audi might put it right for free!

After reading these conments i am 99.9% sure it will be at my expense but my hoping my luck might of changed as it has been poo lately and they "might" do it under warranty but i am not holding my breath.

I am going to order some of these uprated bolts today as i will definitely not be putting the original Audi ones back one it.

Could be a good idea as a group buy for some of you as i would recommend it after whats happened to me.

I will let you know more when i hear from Audi.

Thanks again viraje & mike

Another thing i wanted to ask you gents was if it is not covered by Audi do i let them fix it even know i can get it done at a specialist cheaper with Audi parts, they are not a micky mouse outfit the 2 lads who own it served there time & worked for Audi for 10+ years i know they are reliable as they done my work on my S3 and my mother EOS..????

Your opinion would be appreciated

No if it's not covered get the parts and stuff yourself, TPS will be a lot cheaper, and give good discounts at the counter (just open a local trade cash account) I think you should be fine with your independent.
