Right, so time to nail colours to the mast - who is up for it on the 21st? If we get any traction I will give them a ring to see if we can secure a forumn discount -

1. ED

Am I welcome? In the A4 of course

As Sean says, it is a RS3OC thing for RS3's (with a dubious exception for John although he is bringing an M5 Comp).  Anyone bringing an RS3 is welcome mate.

I nice little intro to the circuit - 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dLWUN9dXDA'

Just remember where he is topping out on the back straight at 124 we are going to be at 150+ and probably bouncing off the speed limiter.

Edit - struggling to post the vid hence the speech marks!!

I totally appreciate that, I’m only doing this because I want to keep it. Work is very close and the car is running for 3/4 minutes at most, all of the stop starting simply isn’t good for it.. cold starts after all are when engines are more likely to wear. I got a pushbike but in the end I was using parents cars if they were off work or getting dropped off... not bothered about short trips in the A4.

I’m 20 months into the RS3, 20k miles on the clock and I really don’t plan on selling it, nothing my wallet can support could replace it... if I carry on like that it will be a very high mileage RS, lots of ‘wasted’ miles when I can’t enjoy it like back and forth shops in traffic etc. So yeah 95% disagree but the car might do 5k or so a year now on trips when I can really enjoy it, the A4 will deal with the boring stuff and as a perk I’ve always wanted one so not like I’m driving something I don’t like.

Thanks for the invite, wasn’t expecting it haha. I’m always up for any excuse for anything car related but to open me up to more abuse the RS won’t see a track, if it was a show it’s a different matter. I’d like to bury the hatchet tbh, I don’t like not getting on with anybody :(

I was only joking Sean haha, I took the AITP “any Audi is welcome” but when there seeing all the RS’ did wish I’d brought mine, until I hit horrendous weather on the way home.

Always been a PITA with looking after my things, just the way I am.. it’s clean underneath and that’s what helps me motivate to keep it that way. Can’t be a bad thing to keep it away from unnecessary poundings of water, the A4 is looking sorry for itself in certain areas having fallen victim to early stages of rust in the usual areas.

I have to say that water has always been my last concern. Freshly laid loose chippings road surfaces? Yes. H2O no. Seriously - what are you saving it for? An extra £500 when you chop it in one day?

The odd track day not going to do a RS any really harm but the driver could 😆

Pot hole roads do more suspension damage that a track will ever do.

Not sure that comment really applies to Castle Coombe Dell...

Generally though, you are going to have top accept that it is going to be hard on the tyres & brakes but ho hum - that is life.

Its a f##king road car not a oil paint for heavens sake !

Due to working in the city commuting in the RS is a waste of time & money so i use a motorcycle.

But last year when we had the snow i used the RS every day to commute irrelevant of the salt and grit.

At weekends i get out as much as possible come rain or shine. 😊

Brakes yes if like me you & don't use them properly & as for tyres I've done 2 Combes & 10k still have the same MPS4s.

Coombe is a 15 mins session - we are talking about an open pit lane day here...

I agree with your previous though - we own an asset that is depreciating to a value of zero sooner or later - get some fun out of it while you own it imo otherwise what's the point? I had an Uncle who bought a Ferrari and never took it out on the road - he did enjoy it by wobbing out with a duster every day and faffing with it in the garage so each to their own I suppose - I just can't see the point.

He died btw and the car had only covered 1,800 miles as I recall.  What a waste.

Really? That storm that hit at around 2pm followed me all the way to Peterborough - I was delighted to be in the RS3 - it is the King of the Road in the wet - all the other cars were all over the place or crawling along at 30 - it had little effect on my nail.  If you actually took it out for a blast in various conditions your eyes would be opened!

Fancy venturing down to Bedford in a month Sean - it will blow the cobwebs away?

This is nothing like ASN - we are talking about taking the cars for a blast mate - ignore the lost souls!
