Got brakes?

Hi Jay, I have been looking at this brake setup for my car can you recommend it now that everything has had time to bed in? also I know you mentioned that there wasn't much space left inside for wheel weights but could this be helped with some spacers? I am running the standard 235 35 19 fronts on the 8J wheels. Thanks in advance

Great kit. No squeal, great visually and ticks all the boxes. In hind sight I should have spent more time trying to get the wheels balanced properly as the ones pictures above were 8J rims all round. Very tight but it is doable. Either that or you go down the route I've taken and go for the staggered setup 8.5j front and 8J rears to give you that little bit extra width in order for the weights to clear that bit better. All depends how good your local fitters are. I've found a good bunch of lads near me which if I knew about at the time I reckon I could have made the 8J work. Live and learn.
Great kit

You'll get yours on before me as an electric handbrake on the 8V has already been trialled and available. The 8P with the mechanical will need some testing so it's a waiting game for me unfortunately. Could use R8 mechanical handbrake or AP do a mechanical version however it's all on drawing paper at the moment.

Thanks for the update, I think I might proceed and see if I can make it work with the 8J wheels.

Cheers mate. Your old rear ARB seems like that happened a very long time ago now.

Haha oh yeah, been meaning to buy another one but don't drive the RS as much as I would like as Mrs holds the keys. Was supposed to sell the 3 but ended up keeping it. Top job mate must be a super car slayer for sure. Sub 11 second quarter mile?

Definitely has the potential, only been to the pod once and I think that was the first week after it was all done so it wasn't a great run. Would like to get more time down it to see how it does. Back to MRC in a few weeks for few other bits so we shall see. No doubt I'll update the thread accordingly

Possibly. I haven't really looked that far ahead to be fair. I probably should as it's always nice to put names to faces and have a perv on the motors.

Update

Tuesday/Wednesday my car went back up to MRC for a decoke / deflap and retune. I was told from a TTRS owner who had the same job done that the deflap was recommended as it can cause another restriction within the manifold which may be able to squeeze a bit more from the engine.
The retune was in order to adjust any potential parameters to compensate for the deflap as they're used to help on cold starts. Pretty sure this is a common mod within other models like the RS4/R8 etc.

The cars just reaching 43k miles now so I thought I'd attack the decoke now so I can take full advantage of any benefits it may bring during my ownership whilst the car is at it's best. MRC use walnut to decoke initially to get rid of the majority of carbon then they do the rest by hand.

Before (zoom in to inspect better)
8418b0525c9c7ba273b84ddd88b70549.jpg

After (zoom in to inspect better)
a61fa1cebe4431eafa564e7758aadfda.jpg

Before (standard to stage 3) 514ps/777Nm
After (decoke/deflap) 521ps/788Nm

MRC have adjusted the timing too which has made the car feel even more responsive so overall I'm pretty happy. They did comment that it was pretty warm so results may improve ever so slightly on cooler days.
