So you never driven a go kart then?? And do go karts not have wheels? They are not easy to drive fast, very demanding and very very raw. And totally awesome!! The exact opposite of how you describe the RS3!

The RS3 is a fantastic road car.

Real driver's car? Go test a Mazda MX-5 for total fun without crazy speeds. Or ANY Lotus. Then you may find the go kart...!

Plenty of FWD driver's cars too, but older versions: look for Peugeot 306 GTI-6 or Rallye, Renault Clio 182, Peugeot 106 GTI and have a ball.

Ahhh.... the 306 gti-6  :)  and the 205 gti 1.9  :)  :) them were the days..........

Sure were... Never had a go in a 205 sadly, but did have a go in the 'ugly duckiling' 309 GTI and that was a hoot. Owned a 306 GTI-6 for two years, fantastic machine... So much fun in that, learnt two things: lift off oversteer can be fun and while perfecting it, use brown trousers...

Talking of lift off oversteer, I had a moment last year at silverstone turning into copse corner in my Stage 2 Focus ST 😂😂

Well controlled....!

Thank god I steered in and accelerated. If not I'm certain I would have hit the wall, which is a lot closer than it looks in that video!

But Scott..... you asked !?? What's Touchy about answering your question ?

You had the RS3 for about 2 seconds before deciding a 'Deal' was better than owning one......

And you've been undecided for months and months now, every time you come on here it's 'I'm undecided' 'struggling to replace the RS 3'

If the/any BMW 'M' car were that good, you'd have been in one straight after you sold your RS.

VAG group make some fantastic cars.

If they didn't I wouldn't be a member here.

yeah im taking my time with my decision this time, and you never know the saloon or facelift may be in order but i will see about that.

i wish my owner ship was a little longer than 7 ish months but due to the lack of reliability and build quality on the mk1 and mk2 i had, i decided the deal was done at the right time.

good save!!!,

i have had a couple of moments like in my mk2 focus st, with the heavy engine and a slight touch of the brakes at the wrong time its easily done.

Every way.

Engines , especially the 5 pot, the V8

DSG/S-tronic is a fantastic piece of engineering....

Looks (albeit understated)

Interiors are far far nicer

quattro.....if it snows I can still use it, if it's raining it's sure footed.

I'm not into this 'if the back comes out I can adjust it rubbish'
I like driving from A to B (sometimes going through C) knowing I'll arrive in one piece.

VCDS

Oh and if BMW's are so great then why haven't you gone out and bought one ??

Every way.

Engines , especially the 5 pot, the V8

BMWs engines are technical marvels, however they don't have the character of some of the RS engines in the Audis so I sort of agree with you here

DSG/S-tronic is a fantastic piece of engineering....

The S tronic is a great gearbox but the DCT in my m4 blows it away in comparison, never once have I been able to catch it out like I did a few times in the RS3

Looks (albeit understated)

This is subjective, and doesn't apply for all Audis, the RS6 is not understated yet the m5 is, the RS3 is understated and the m2 is not. Does not really apply to BMW/ Audi as a whole. If I am buying a top of the range M/RS model then I want it to look like one. I understand not everyone may agree

Interiors are far far nicer

I prefer the interior in my M4 to the RS3. You sit in the car rather than on it. Seats are much better and offer greater support, these seats are standard rather than the Supersports in the my RS3 which looked great but offered little support. The I drive is more intuitive and interior is more centered towards the driver. The interior in the Audi is better much screwed together though

quattro.....if it snows I can still use it, if it's raining it's sure footed.

BMW offer alot of models in X drive guise now. They are pretty good. The next m5 is supposed to be going x drive also

I'm not into this 'if the back comes out I can adjust it rubbish'
I like driving from A to B (sometimes going through C) knowing I'll arrive in one piece.

Thats the thing though, drive these cars like normal human being on the road and back won't come out

VCDS

BMWS can be coded also, however Its not as user friendly as what the VAG range offers

To make sweeping generalisations along the lines of 'BMW's are this.....' or 'Audi's are whatever.....' is rather shortsighted and frankly displays a worrying level of ignorance. Both marques are rightly respected for their technical excellence and both ranges contain some excellent models - none are 'better' than the others, just different and 'better suited' to different drivers and their requirements. The key to safe, enjoyable motoring - whichever car you choose - is to be aware of both your own and your car's capabilities and limitations and drive in accordance with the prevailing conditions - something the imbecile in the opening clip clearly failed to do.

My sympathies lie with the poor chap sitting quietly at the traffic lights minding his own business - although I guess that if his car of choice is a Vauxhall Insignia, those sympathies should be fleeting   ;)

Agreed......

However I still prefer an Audi RS over anything BMW offers.

Look out Billy ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Hedge !!!

If you pay for the car and you like the car you bought then surely whatever anyone thinks about it surely does not matter !

As you all know or might not,,,,

I bought the S7 its not to everyone's liking but I could not care less.

I like it its comfy ,quiet ,sneaky fast, and not many about .

I dont go in for all the marque bashing if I like a car I will get one regardless of what other people think say or do !

As the famous saying goes.........................................

Exactly, I often have mine in mdm mode which allows a bit of slip but nothing like this. It will reign things in very quickly. Will allow a bit of wiggle from the rear but keeping you facing the right way. The video of the orange m4 will be with dsc totally off and cold tyres. They can really catch you out if tyres not warm.

When I made the switch from the RS3 I was worried it would throw me in a hedge first chance it got but so far ( touch wood) no issues to report

Yeah mdm is sport+ equivalent and dsc is ddc I think in other models. I have been out many times in sport /sport and comfort steering and if the back slips out a slight correction of the steering catches it with ease, the m3 and m4 is so well balanced.

Obviously in the wet its takes a while to get grip if your heavy footed but it's all about driving to the conditions.

I find them a lot more fun to drive than the RS3. But they bother have pros and cons for me.

Still can't decide what to buy myself...

Looks like all of these are being driven in MDMA mode :84:
